I just received a Mills Acoustics Afterburner 4x12 from thegame. Great price, communication, packing and shipping. Thanks dude. ..So anyway, the cab sounds massive, but it's got four V30's in it and I'm not a V30 guy. I just compared it to my buddy's Uberkab and the V30/G12T75 combo sounds killer. Anybody try that in an Afterburner? Also, how about a V30/Greenback combo? Any good? Any other suggestions?

sounds odd but scumback m75s and k100s are an awesome combo.

I don't have this cab or know anything about it. I'd move GBs low on the list because they are rated at 96-97 dbs whereas V30s are 100. This means V30s are noticeably louder. That doesn't mean it is wrong or broken to combine them, but just be aware it'll mostly sound like V30s still. I think Mr Willy here at RT had this pairing before.

More questions I would ask include: do you play in a band? Is there a second guitarist? Many people who don't live V30s while playing alone will admit they slay in a band position because they cut so hard. Also bear in mind that these are new. V30s need a lot of abuse on 11 before they smooth out.

I used to have K100s in an X with V30s in a Bogner cab. Pretty tight for lower tunings. Since you like the G75T X, you might like it too. I've since grown out of favor with low tuning and hence I let those go. Last I checked, they're only made in 8 ohm today. You'll have to go used if you need 16. Also note that the older K85 is the exact same speaker. Later testing showed that they could reliably handle 100 watts each so Celestion updated the model number.

I have 2 Mills Afterburner 412s. Both are loaded with Scumback H55/H75LHDC in an x-pattern. I have yet to hear a cab that sounds better with my amps. I do really like my Splawn with v30s/cream back H75s too, just doesn't sound quire as good as the mills. I'm not a big fan of greenbacks, so I haven't tried those in the Mills, but I've compared the current set up to all v30s, all k100s and a mix of v30s/k100s, and none sound as good as the scumbacks

V30/T75 X pattern is a great combo. If you use GBs with the V30s try the GBs on top, like Friedman does. That way the V30s won't overpower the GBs when you hear the mix.

I have four Celestion G12-80s in my Mills Afterburner cab. I found an old 1982A cab loaded with them for $250 and bought the cab solely for the speakers. Not the easiest speakers to come by, but they sound fantastic. Over the years, I've had V30s, K100s, WGS Vet 30s, WGS Reapers, WGS ET-65s and WGS Retro 30s in my Mills and when I landed on the G12-80s, the speaker shuffle just stopped. The closest modern speaker I've heard to the G12-80s is the Mesa C90. It may be the years of break in on my G12-80s, but they are smoother and warmer than the C90s I've owned. Otherwise they sound very similar to each other.

I run my Mills cab with a Diezel Herbert, Mesa Electradyne and a Mesa Mark III. Those are three very different sounding amps and the speakers are up to the task in each case. A buddy of mine played an 18W marshall clone he built through my Mills and still talks about how great it sounded.

I should also add, I'm not a V30 fan, but they sounded as good as I've ever heard them in my Mills.

If you're playing metal then the V30/T75 combo is great...however I liked V30/Cream 65 when I had my Mills.
