Never liked the SLO or understood the hype…
Played one and it was close enough to a 5150 II that I wasn’t impressed. I don’t see the $4000 value anymore. I’m good with my $1400 USA made 5150 II and careful preamp tube choices.

V30`s dont sound great/not bad though unless your playing at volume, but never understood what other people are hearing? For instance to me 30th annv. 30watt is the worst speaker ever made, and 75`s are ok but at volume at least noon. Greenbacks are all I need.

i prefer my DSL with v30s for the metal i play, id never have the mid knob much over 9 oclock though

Mesa V30's sound great from bedroom whisper to full volume.

I personally find V30's are more forgiving about volume levels than Greenbacks. The "Greenback magic" happens at loud volumes, and V30's are more linear since they break up less, IME.

I don't know. Robin Trower used V-30-loaded Marshall cabs for decades w/ various Marshall heads. Always sounded great.

I got a BAD SLO 100 w/ the Soldano 4x12. It's a rear-loaded cab now w/ V-30's and it's killer.
There are lots of players that like the combo. Not me; but this was years back when I didn't care for it. Now I have a Mesa cab, maybe I should revisit it.
But for me, when I ran either G12 65s or GBs it was a huge improvement.

Those ampeg cabinets are notorious for choking out midrange.
