Went a deep dive on some “oldies” and gotta say the mixing on a lot of the old nu metal stuff is pretty sick , korns 1st few records , the guitar / drums sounds killer ! Same with deftones / system . Some killer tones on some of that old nu metal stuff

Btw the Diezel vh4 tones on Untouchables are just perfect 7 string tone

Skinlab, American Head Charge, Motograter, early Machine Head...
Motograter hell yeah! I could never get into FFDP but that first release from them was awesome.

Chimaira is probably my fave from that era, even though they kind of switched things up after the first couple albums

the Coal Chamber albums are some of the best sounding productions ever
First one sings are col but after that it all blows imo . Devil driver is such a much better band that fight coal chamber existed . But the first album was fun . Man at parties that album got people dancing . Where’s this kind of fun now .

the first album is just that, fun jams. second album is terrible. third one has jams and sounds the best, i probably A/B these two songs with my own stuff more than any other songs. NRG and Rumbo studios pumped out the goods

I’ll check it out . I live nu metal

I just always wondered why so many really talented nu metal bands (drummers, bassist, guitarists) were fronted by such strange people.

Production on Korn follow the leader is insane.

Still sounds bigger, clearer and heavier than a lot of new stuff today

Love that nu metal had those up front guitar tones… unlike the all mids, no highs, AM radio modern tone a lot of dudes are rocking today

Whenever I think of Nu Metal, I automatically picture Max in his orange shirts and red hair phase... It was a strange time for metal heads.

I jumped on the bandwagon long after the train had left the station. Huge fan of Slipknot, Korn, Limp Bizkit and Deftones.

Sure I'll catch a lot of flak for mentioning that Fred Durst fronted band, but I'm pretty old and a lot of what he sings makes more sense to me now than when I was younger and turned my nose up at a lot of music like a pretentious douche.
