Oh yeh ... I haven't tried the Nitro with KT88's. According to Scott Splawn, with EL34's you will get more mid range. Since I tend to play lot's of notes, I like midrange! So my Nitro is loaded with EL34's. However, for more metal type music, with scooped mids, the KT88's are supposedly better.

Hey sounded great! I have always found the Nitro lacking in the Mids, it would be so killer with just a tick more in that area. Usually left me thinking it sounded flat. Yours sounded awesome! Great playing too.

I loved the way that Nitro sounded as well. I don't get what issues people have with boosting things... if it sounds better boosted, why WOULDN'T you do it?

There's a train of thought among some people that if you have to use a boost to get your tone that there is a design flaw in the amp, that you should be able to get all the tone from the amp.

Yeah that was my Nitro at the amp fest,..... I have a 2010 version at the moment. The main difference is the volume control in the loop and the sweep on the resonance control.
.

When I talked to them before I ordered my new Nitro, they also said they increased the gain on the lead channel. Did you notice that when they were sid-by-side? I don't know if I can really tell compared to the 2008 I had. I don't really put the gain past noon on OD1 so maybe so.

Yeah pretty much whatever gets the job done. I think people hate it when a $2-4K amp doesn't shine until a $50-100 pedal is in front of it

If we think about how changing speakers effects an amps performance, what's wrong with a pedal. If the amp was perfect for everyone the manufacturer wouldn't allow any other speaker than the one they use.

Almost every classic hard rock/metal recording either used EQ/pedals in front of amps or probably a decent amount of tweaking after the preamp or line-out or on tape. If the amp needed nothing no-one would ever touch the EQ on a mixer either. We also wouldn't have an almost endless choice of mic combo's to use on guitar to get "the tone" we want. Hey, don't master that CD, you'll dilute my amp's tone

With all that said, I really do get a kick out of an amp that doesn't need help, but I don't care if it does. As long a gig could still be done without the help (broken/lost/stolen) it's all good.
