Brought out my JVM for rehearsal last night. I still love this amp...bad-ass modern Marshall tone!

I still like mine alot, a real fun amp with a ton of different tones.

Damn!

So would it get any close to your Cameron collection?

So for you guys over ther those are like 2K$, right?

I can get them over here in Europe for half of that ... maybe I just should do it!

You can find them used for about $1200.

Hm, no I was thinking Euros :o)

Normally, for amps from the US, $ price = € price over here.

They are more like 1200-1400$ new when bought in UK.

Has anyone here thought about upgrading the JVM with some Mercury Magnetics Transformers?

whats not to like, bunch o marshalls in a box
use mine on every gig

Our Singer let me borrow his JVM this past saturday night at the show( I'm ampless until this week) . It was so much fun to play again . I 've owned a couple already and should of just kept one

I still think they are killer amps!! I really dig playing them through Greenback or h30 loaded cabs.

my local gc has quite a few used jvms and dsls. wide range of prices too. i may snag a discounted jvm or 5153

Real question is, would that really be an upgrade?

Well, from what I can hear in clips/demos, all sounds a bit toppy and not as punchy as it could.

My impression is that the switching features and versatile preamp tones make it a very interesting amp, but it could use a bit more iron for increased oomph and punch. It sounds to me as if it cuts well in the top end of the mid spectrum, but it's not really filling it up.

But maybe I should first TRY the amp, then maybe BUY one, and afterwards consider MODDING it

I played one in Munich a week ago. Liked it a lot. Stellar clean channel too. Just pulled the trigger on one and ordered from Musicstore. Let us know if you are getting one.

The jvm rocks . Stock right out of the box ! Marshall got it right with this one for sure....

Picked one up recently, awesome amp, love the crunch channel and OD1. However it's a noisy amp, the noise gate tames it a bit, but without it there's always this big hiss, anyway to tame it other than a noisegate?

Better preamp tubes. Seriously...

I've got TungSOL's (new, not NOS) and it tamed it quite a lot over the GT 12AX7C's I bought previously, though, the stock tubes (also chinese 12ax7's) were fine in the noise department.
