I have a nice hollow body with some really shitty P90s....I say they're shitty because I know them to be cheap and quite brittle in sound....

I have a different hollow body with Lollar P90s and it rips...

What else is out there that you would recommend for some rock music?

I’ve got a set of SD Hot P90’s in my LP Special and they rip.

Yup! +1
I put a set of those in a PRS SE-245 Soapbar, and they sound killer

I’m not hearing the traditional P90 tone in those....in a bad way.

I went with the craziest P90s I could find in my budget.....Got a set of BKP Pig 90s! Will report back.

Thanks guys! Anyone have experience with Bareknuckle P90s?
Here here....
Nantucket, Stockholm, kickass P90s.

But caveat to bear in mind, the guitar you're using may be a culprit to the less than desired tones you want. Just a thought, you may be chasing the wrong animal to fix the tone you seek. Semi-hollow/hollw body guitars are a breed unto themselves. Totally different playing field and tonal dynamics. Keep this in mind...they're not apples to apples whatsoever when looking at pups. If you are interested in BKPs, connect with Tim or check their forum - you'll get some solid straight up advice.

Peace

I'm a huge fan of p90s, and found that there's not necessarily a tie to cost and good tones. For example, stock Gibson p90s tend to sound pretty great. Or Tonerider, not a spendy boutique make. If you like what an expensive model gives then that's great, but I'm not really looking for a smooth p90. I want it a little hairy, rough around the edges, mean but you roll off and it cleans up. Never all the way clean, but clean enough.

I love Pig 90 but I suspect it'll feedback like crazy in a hollowbody.

Well, I'm back....The Pig 90s sent to me are not the Dogear type I need so back they go....

Plus I think godgrinder is right about the feedback issues with such hot pickups in a hollow body....I want rock though.....At the very least....

What else is out there I should be checking out?

Fralins???

Man I have a custom Arcane P90 going into the neck position of my Pittman Guitars build. I have heard great stuff about Arcane so I am excited.
