Tell me how great the Cali modded Marshall is.

its pretty awesome man. i played one and wish i got to tweak it with lower gain settings to see how that would of sounded, i dont always dig the gain dimed to 10 deal cause lower gain can give you so much more touch responsiveness, but for that kinda thing it was awesome

It's AWESOME. I've owned some nice amps such as a few IIC+, VHTUL, XTC, all the other Mark series Boogies. And I've played plenty of others Herbert, Engl's, etc. For high gain the Fortin smokes em all IMHO.

It's just a single channel amp so once you're dialed into your tone that's pretty much it. But it's such a killer sounding and feeling amp. I also owned a Mark 5 before this. Fortin Cali versus channel 3 of the Mark 5...

I got the call last week and if everything goes as planned should have mine in about two weeks. I can't wait. You know clips, pics and a video review will be on its way.

I love mine. Sounds killer. Makes playing really fun.

This is one of the main things i love about the Cali Mod. I know I'm obviously biased on the subject since I worked with Mike on the design, but the Cali is a really fun amp to play through :) It sounds awesome on pretty much every setting (to my ears), and the feel is super easy. It's definitely not an amp that fights you when you play it.

For me, it covers everything i ever wanted/needed in a modded Marshall.

Hey Jim, that really clean one was Darren Cooper's amp :) I finished it up and got it back to him a few weeks ago, I'm sure he'll probably post about it soon since he's been spending some time with it and playing around with all the different settings. I will say that it came out sounding awesome when i finished it up

That was the cleanest SB I've seen in a long time, he's a lucky man   Dan, are you sticking with the original cali circuit, or have you found some tweaks??

what are the available donors to do the cali mod on, 800s, 1987s? there were a crapload of used marshall heads at GC today for some reason

Mike said he isn't taking anymore orders for mods until like June or something. He had surgury so he need time to get healed up and squared away.

I agree Jim, it was possibly the cleanest one i have ever seen. Certainly the cleanest one i have worked on anyway! It was a pleasure to work on

I tend to stick with the original Cali circuit, exactly same as what Mike does with the Cali Mods. I also offer extra options too, like relay switching stuff (Footswitchable Masters w/ dual Saturation circuits, Footswitchable GainBoosts), Tube buffered FX Loop, Adjustable Slave Out, Voicing switches etc. That kind of stuff can all be added extra and can make it an even more versatile amp, especially for guys who plan to use the amp for live gigging :)

The 800's are good candidates, aswell as the 60's/70's JMPs (2203/2204/1959/1987). The SLP and 1987 Reissues are really cool if they're the earlier type (before they came stock with FX Loops)

Cali mod is AMAZING!

I'm coming up to the 1 year anniversary of my Cali.....still puts a smile on my face every time I play it.
