Tell me how great the Cali modded Marshall is.

One of the best amps Ive ever played and it will be my main gigging amp when I get it back from Mike!!

Ive heard 3 different cali mods in person now....
my own 50 watt jcm 8oo which dan gower modded...
dan gowers personal amp a 100 watt with the cali mod

and darren coopers 100 watt cali which is amazing ... I played through it yesterday
all three amps are amazing sounding pieces of kit !
the cali is great at lower gain settings really amazing tone and feel
set at high gain wow its exceptional !

so far my own cali mod has worked amazingly well with every guitar and type of pickup Ive used with it

my own cali is the amp in the clip in dan gowers signature

it also works great with different speakers ,Ive used g12h30 blackbacks also prerola g12m25
and g12m 25 blackbacks

the cali is very versatile almost chameleon like in its ability to produce different tones

it has it all, gain tone and incredible touch response to different playing styles

Ive now had my cali for best part of 2 weeks!!

what ian said above is spot on..the tone, feel, and gain is nothing short of amazing..

ive had 3 cameron amps inc the much wanted ccv-100..now while im not taking anything away from those amps i feel the cali for me is superior to many of the other amps ive owned!!

Dont think of the cali as a 1 trick pony..its not!!

ive coaxed many tones from it..inc great vintage plexi tones..classic 70's rock tones..obviously the 80's stuff which many people represent what this amp is for..
it excells at different tones and different feels at various gain levels..just flicking through the bright switches on the front alone changes the characteristics of not only the gain but the tone too..

i have the loop fitted to mine and it is out of this world...ive never played an amp which has such a transparent loop..i cant speak for everyone who has it installed to there amp..but ive done extensive testing at varous volume and gain levels and there is zero loss!! and i mean zero loss..im running a tc g-major through it..

here's a couple of pictures of my finished product!!

Arild..your are gonna be very happy once your amp comes to you...its in great hands and your having a great mod fitted..

this is certainly would be my one only desert island amp!!

I really need one of these amps, i wished i had saved a few xtra bucks and got a cali mod instead of the quickrod i have on order. someday i will own one i guess.

That was the cleanest SB I've seen in a long time, he's a lucky man   Dan, are you sticking with the original cali circuit, or have you found some tweaks??

I agree Jim, it was possibly the cleanest one i have ever seen. Certainly the cleanest one i have worked on anyway! It was a pleasure to work on

I tend to stick with the original Cali circuit, exactly same as what Mike does with the Cali Mods. I also offer extra options too, like relay switching stuff (Footswitchable Masters w/ dual Saturation circuits, Footswitchable GainBoosts), Tube buffered FX Loop, Adjustable Slave Out, Voicing switches etc. That kind of stuff can all be added extra and can make it an even more versatile amp, especially for guys who plan to use the amp for live gigging :)

Mike offers a boatload of options like that as well... I've got two masters each with independent saturations switch selectable by footswitch, bypassable loop, line out, and a clean channel going into mine. It's in progress and should be finished once Mike is back on his feet after his surgery

Awesome!!! I'm sure you'll love it when you get it back  Mike's work is fantastic!!

I'm doing a Cali Mod this month for a customer, and he's going for just about every extra option i offer. It's going to be a great amp when it's done, since all the switching options will add to the versatility :)

How can we talk Mike into going to the NY ampshow? Or he is visiting before that?

I am still thinking about it but it's a 2 day show, which means more $$ and time to take off to do it.
Worst case, I'm still going to be down in NY at the end of June

During my recovery and bag icing, I've enjoyed some unique threads here. To set the record straight, I use Cashmere double ply toilet paper. After I got home from the hospital, I've been drinking some Senna Tea in combination with Docusate Sodium 100mg stool softener (emollient fecal for our French RTers). The combination of Senna Tea, which gently simulates the sphincter, and the lubricating effect of the Docusate Sodium yields a "bacon strip" free TP wipe. After this discovery and secret tip of the day to my fellow RTers, I shall be switching to the much cheaper generic brand single ply as the extra wiping torque of the double ply is not longer needed.

Carry on gentlemen............................
Cheers,
Mike

You're going to dig the amp a lot. You know i really liked the IIC+ i had but i think the Fortin has it beat. It seems as though that you liked your IV more though.
