THE amp has arrived...

you guys may not believe me, thats cool. some of you will thats cool too. i just want to share my thoughts.

kyle is the real deal. a dude that built something at his house, and it sounds incredible. it feels right to me, and with him tweaking it a bit further to fit my evil redneck needs, it is one of the finest amps i have ever played.

i have no intentions of dumping my diezels. they are different animals. the reason the rhodes works for me is that alone its incredible, as a blend with a herbert its unbeatable. these amps bring out the best in each other.

now the most important part. I PLAY WHAT SOUNDS GOOD, FEELS GOOD, AND WHAT I LIKE. i have old fenders, i absolutely adore Johns (Suhr) amps and i love the 5153 evh. i own all of these.

for me i look for things that bring out the best in my playing, and right now John, Peter, and Kyle make my music work. they are the backbone of my sound. If i liked something else i would play it. As most of you might now start to realize, i dont swap companies constantly, im very lucky to work closely with guys who want to make their products that i use even better for me. Im honored that John offers a guitar with my name on it (i hope you sum bitches buy one cuz it kicks ass!!!) but i tweaked it to be the perfect machine for me. Same with the amp that kyle and I dialed in. i am more than happy to offer the reasoning behind my gear if any of you have specific questions, but most importantly,
i want to make it known that other companies have approached me and tried to wine and dine me with offers, but i believe in my heart that im playing the best built and best sounding gear available. At least for what I do. i am very very (actually very to the point of stupid) lucky that i am able to try out every single thing on the market and make my decision. And to me the Rhodes is an amp that is a measuring stick. its just that simple, i loved the proto but after i worked with Kyle 1 on 1, i believe in all honesty i took the amp to a level that i am proud of. We loosened the amp just a touch for me, and re voiced the 3rd channel. i wanted it a little more visceral, so we took a nice dip out of the upper mids, great way to sound more defined and meaner, while retaining all of the "body" of the tone.

i would love to offer any help at all regarding questions on any of my gear. But mainly, i dont want you guys thing i am biased towards things based on who gives me a better deal, because thats just simply not true. I play the shit that makes me sound better than i actually am :)

Yeah, I don't get it. OP not only played the amp but in an actual band! That's a lot more than most guys on here   He has every right to post his appropriate stokage. I dig simpler (also cheaper) amps but if it rocks his socks, good for him.

Andy, we obviously think of sound differently because I couldn't make an amp more visceral and meaner by taking away it's upper mids. I would want more, "more mids damnit" Hoist the mids you blaggards.

I think Steve's SLO revelation has really shakin' some of you to your mod squad cores and the ripple effect is still spreading.....

Ok, just saw the thread title again after I had forgot what it said and yeah, it deserves some ribbing. ;)

:D yeah to me, mean= a bit scooped. when they sound full in the mids (like a badass marshall type amp) it doesnt equate that emotion to me. When i think mean, i think dimebag, justice for all, killswitch, thrashy type tones. Mid heavy makes my ears hear "full and warm"

i'm all for hearing about new amps, especially from new builders that don't cost 4 grand.

i know the flavor of the week thing goes on, but are we just supposed to all whack off to the same tired ass Modded Marshall bullshit we allways have?

i need new porn damnit!

Preach on brother  I'd love to try one of these out, especially at $1-2k less then other amps in it's class.

For what these amps sell for and how good they sound, they smoke all others.Period

Ok--so the ribbing in the title WAS warranted, and as I previously stated, my initial post was a result of my riding high after rehearsals. I think everyone has covered all of the salient points: this amp isn't going to be everything to everyone, but when it comes down to it, this amp delivers where many other amps only make claims. Works alone, works in a band situation. The bottom line is that with all the amps I've been through, this amp is the absolute closest to being my "desert island" amp.

Take my posts with a grain of salt, read Andy Wood's post, and realize that Kyle knows his stuff cold, has an engineering degree, and put together something for us hopeless tone chasers that covers more territory than most.

Let calmer heads prevail, and hope that I can figure out how to put together acceptable audio and/or video clips that best-represent this amp.

Cheers,

Hope it's a good clip, all the "Fan-Boys" will beat you with they're boutique amps.
I haven't heard a bad clip thus far,i'm sure your safe.

Hahaha!  ;) I get bored of it too. It's partly why I'm having more fun playing 'lighter' songs with a much cleaner tone (practically jazz and blues and some light rock) on my old Marshall rather than the super-gainy modded stuff.

Another day, another amp

On the Rig Talk wave we all ride

The words remain the same, except the amp's name

As everyone scrambles to take sides
Hear ya man...just give me this...

1.............it was a typed review telling us we have ear problems including yourself since you do not have one of these   Of course the beatdown was coming

BTW I like the Rhodes amp, great build with quality parts and they do sound great.

2............If you REALLY think Steve's incredible typed tone regarding the SLO has us all freaking out looking to sell our modded Marshalls then I have a bridge for you   Even that typed juggernaut could not make me forget the shit feel that amp has without a boost.

It's funny how all it takes is one well known personality on a forum to type alot of posts about a piece of gear and people line up like birds on a wire to join in and there you have it, the hype of the week.

Some seem to extrapolate that as "the entire forum", which of course is not true they tend to remain silent watching the whole thing go down.

We should "build" a super flipper / gear renter and slowly unleash him on another forum and watch the cult of personality become a forum god   Could do it without uploading one single note

Shooting fish in a barrel
