Love the amp pic, gives me something to show the wife when she complains about MY amp collection :)

I can only go from the Fortin Modded Marshall I have, but compared to VHTs (I've owned an UL, a Pittbull 100 and two 50/CLs) Mikes stuff has more gain, more low end, and just as much clarity - you can hear what you're doing very well and can play the most twisted chords with full grind and hear all the notes. You don't need an EQ to tweak it either.

And the Fortin is also easier to play without sounding too loose. He has the right balance IMHO.

I still prefer my Bogner 101b for classic rock because I dig the inherent sag and 'old school nature' of it - but for slut-banging metal the Fortin RULES!

Mike those photos kill!!!

Is that pedal you are working on available yet?

You sexy bitch :)
that is a hell of a brutal collection of amps, Mike.

I salute you sir!

I don't really hear much of a resemblance at all aside from that Freyette and Fortin both make amps with tons of character.

The Freyette stuff is more direct and less rich overall- they sound awesome, yet don't have as much substance around the notes- perhaps they are a bit less dimensional, but very tight and nimble.

The Fortin line is more rich harmonically and also more hi-fi. There is not as much of a focus in any particular region of the response curve, but they are very well balanced with strong textural overtones. They are leaner in the sub bass department than the Freyettes and have more snarl.
