I can't imagine the amount of wall plates (xlr's) you're going to have in that place. I did 12 (3 plates) in my studio going to a main plate with 12 and soldering those was the most tedious process I've ever done. 96 connections total to solder (if my math is right).

Hi billbbigego. We are wired for 48 channels in the live room and in the machine room we have cables pre run for an additional 24 channels to go to tape in the future if we decide to go that road. Your math is right and there was a ton of soldering that took place for both the wall plates and for inside the control room. Of course this doesn't include the fact that there are two Cat5 cable jacks per wall plate and even more in the control room.

Hello again. It's been a lot of fun hanging up lights and getting doors installed. It may not be the most exciting thing in the world however to me it's huge.

When it came to dealing with the lights I had my work cut out for me as I am vertically challenged. For all the things 14 ft. tall I could reach with a ladder. When it came to the peak vault of the Live Room I was actually about two inches to short of reaching. I asked my friend Andrew Mynyk (Owner and Builder at Republic Amps) for his assistance since he's approximately 6'2" tall compared to my 5'4" tall. Although he doesn't like heights he didn't let me know this until after he was done installing the lights. To me that was super huge and super kind of him to pull my ass out of that fire.

At the same time, I was coordinating getting doors built and installed. Mike Supulski was the right man for this job. He really knows his stuff. However the doors were not light as they were solid core exterior doors and there are two doors to a frame that butterfly out when they open. In short, these things are super heavy and this is where Mike needed help...and it was the one area that I really shine in...lifting heavy things. As I worked with Mike I learned a ton of things and this is one of those times you pay for what a person knows not what they do. There were a ton of subtleties that I had no clue about.

At the end of all this I now have doors and lights installed. Again, it's not because of anything I did...it's because of the kindness of these two guys that I got this task accomplished. The only way I can show my appreciation is to say THANK YOU ANDREW AND MIKE FOR EVERYTHING YOU DID!

Happy Monday everyone. Here's a bunch of full frequency traps that me and my wife Angelica built. The truth of the matter is that because of her they actually look decent. I personally couldn't wrap a present. I also got some of these ideas from watching Dave and Anthony put up the vaulted part on top of the walls and so I followed suit and built modular acoustic panels.

The gray ones above the large vocal booth have Roxul Safe & Sound inside them. Behind them on the horizontal surface is a layer of Roxul as well. Not only does sound get absorbed going in...after it bounces around it has to deal with one horizontal absorbent surface and then the vertical surface as it tries to re-exit the acoustic panel. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of every step of it however there's enough pictures to get a good idea.

In the control room there are also four full frequency acoustic panels as well. Behind the black ones you will see the horizontal surface of Roxul and of course the vertical surface is filled with Roxul as well.

The awesome person in some of these pictures is my wife Angelica who told me that we need to do this correctly and to the best of our ability. So that is what we've done. 98% of all the acoustic panels you will see were wrapped by her while I ran the staple gun.

Happy Friday everyone. I thought I would show you some of the trim work that's been happening. Since trim work wasn't something I felt solid about doing myself I enlisted the help of Jade Fischer to get me started. As it would happen, this was something Jade really seemed to enjoy so he took off with it. As Jade was leading the trim work and calling the shots I was making sure to take as many notes on this as possible as I knew I would have to finish it up. This was not a small job and there is no way that I would expect or ask anyone volunteering to help me to complete this job. As a result of learning from Jade I got my trim work skills in place and after a long day of Jade working his ass off the bulk of the hard work was done. If it wasn't for Jade taking the time to teach me...I wouldn't have been able to finish up this job. This is one more day that I owe Jade Fischer a BIG THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK!

Hi fender126. Thank you for continuing to stop by and leave words of encouragement. The one thing I know is that I get so much more flexibility in equipment choices with the room being built correctly. I can always make a large room small however you can't make a small room large. When the equipment starts rolling in that will be a good day. The unfortunate side to that is still the cost of equipment. I do have some things up my sleeve to make the equipment manageable and keep the maintenance costs easily under control.

Hello everyone. I'd like to welcome you to The Balcony Del Valle. When Dave designed the studio he originally intended for the two amp rooms to go all the way up and then he had an epiphany and said "What about using the wasted space and put a balcony up there?". Since Dave had ultimate veto power I said "Sure...why not...". Now with this balcony in place we have a great vantage point of shooting live performances above as well as on the floor.

This balcony was designed and built by Dave Del Valle. He had sent me several designs and when I saw the first one...which is what you're looking at...I didn't need to look any further. This one jumped out at me and said..."Kick ass!". I showed it to my wife and she agreed immediately. So with some 2"x2" square tubing Dave goes to work. He built the two front pieces at home and constructed the rest of it here at the studio. My sole role in this was to be the best pack mule that I could be.

I have so much that I'm grateful for and as a result of Dave's kindness and awesomeness I am so much better off than I could have imagined. In short, THANK YOU DAVE FOR EVERYTHING!
