love that bannister and balcony! great ideas.

Hi DrThunder. Thank you so much for the kind words. I have to admit that Dave really hit a home run with this concept.

Here it is another session of work behind us. This time my wife was key in helping me make things look far nicer than I would have done. I've been building a bunch of acoustic panels. It's not a complicated design that I did however it is effective. I tend to go through pallets of Roxul Safe 'N Sound. I also get to go fabric shopping a lot with my wife. Since everything starts to add up quickly we have to make decisions on fabric and for us duck canvas seems the most economical choice especially when they are running a 50% off sale and we get a decent color selection. I hope you find these pictures enjoyable. Until next time... :)

Texas does things right! Congrats again, man.

Hi rottingcorpse. I'm glad you always find something positive to say about this project. I really appreciate your vote of confidence and for your support! :)

I'm always amazed coming into this thread....craziest DIY project I've seen in a long time. And I love that actual instruments are starting to trickle into pictures.

Hi HottKarl. Thank you for coming to this thread. I agree that it's one crazy DIY project. The instruments are all here. I just need to get them out of the house.

Here it is another set of accomplishments for the studio. As you can see we've been putting up acoustic treatment in the Live Room. The reason that the curtains are up is based on the suggestion from Bobby Cochran. It happened to be the first suggestion he made when he walked into the Live Room. To me it was amazing that I didn't see the obvious answer. I am hugely grateful for Bobby's input on that wall. You will also notice that we've started hanging clouds and everything is in a temporary position for now. Of course the acoustic panels for the walls have gone up and my friend Bailey Walker and his friends wanted to get in on the action so they hung up the panels on the one very big wall. Lastly you will see the amp rooms getting treated. This may be a bit overkill however it is doing a great job at making the rooms more dead.

I hope you enjoy these pictures. Until next time...

Hi PeteLaramee. Thank you very much for the WOW! Words like that make my day. When you say "loft space" what are you referring to? I've never heard that phrase in association with the studio and so now I want to be ready to add new potential vocabulary to what people may describe in the studio. The balcony with the railing is for video of live performances on the curtained side wall. The two padded rooms under the balcony are the amp rooms. With the amp rooms you can plug your amp in outside the amp rooms (look between the doors there's a silver plate" or you can plug in from the control room. In either case we can track bass and guitars along with drums simultaneously with minimal to no bleed.

Yes, I was referring to the balcony above the two amp rooms. Great idea.

Happy Monday everyone. I thought I'd update this thread with some pictures of the diffusor in the control room. It's really quite amazing what is available for creative acoustics on a budget. The man responsible for this being square and as nice as it is...Chris Forshage.

Chris builds custom guitars and they don't involve a CNC machine. I believe his most popular guitar is the Ergo Guitar.
Forshage Custom Instruments

Because I'm a mediocre builder there are times that I need help and Chris came to my rescue on this day. Since he can build great guitars this was a no brainer for him. Once we got things squared it was a matter of placing the 3D tiles on the wall.

I owe a huge THANK YOU to Chris for his time and support. I hope you enjoy these pictures.

Amazing thread! I don't know how I've missed it all this time.....

I'm just finishing my basement studio, which is basically two 25' by 13' rooms. I thought that was a major project but now not so much!

I know what you mean about going through roxul like water lol!

Hi Blurplist. Thank you for the kind words. It's not hard to miss this thread. If it wasn't for rottingcorpse contacting me to continue posting this thread I was actually going to delete it.

In my opinion, it doesn't matter how big the rooms are it's all a massive undertaking. Your rooms are not small by any means.

Here we are doing acoustic treatment for the control room. We have clouds built and more stuff in the pipeline. My friend Randy Pekinto offered to lend a hand in getting things hung up evenly. If I had to do it myself I wouldn't do near as great of a job. Randy is yet one more person that I owe a huge THAN YOU to. I hope you enjoy these pictures.
