Never heard OP complain in the other thread about anyone hijacking it and if so which one. He ended up getting a different cab than others suggested too or even that I suggested.

On the subject of cables, and no offense Kid, but 90% of the claims for “specialty” cables are snake oil. Yes, there are good and bad cables, but the difference between a quality cable and a specialty cable that costs 3x-5x more are - in my experience - never audibly perceptible. In a pristine studio situation, maybe. For the kind of playing/gigging most of us do (or did), the extra coin is better spent on other things…

I bought two 40’ Mogami Golds about 15 years ago and they’re still great. I don’t think they’re better than this cable or that cable and at $30 a piece they were probably overpriced l, but I gigged with them steady for ten years and never had a problem. If I was buying cables today I’d just make my own.

IMO yeah you don't need to spend a lot of money on cables and decent cables will do for most.


I use the MXR patches for example and they are good enough and they don't cost a lot of money for a 3 pack but in some cases where you may have noisier stuff like say a fuzz face or a wah you want a more quiet cable noise floor wise and again you don't have to spend a lot of money either to make your own or for what it is.


Otherwise a decent cable from guitar to board and board to guitar isn't bad and that makes up a lot of ones tone one can say IME. If you find something that works for you and you like how it sounds and there are no noise problems that's the best one could ask for. Sometimes one cable doesn't offer what we want tone wise or isn't quite enough, you don't like the feel etc etc..... and another does offer what you're looking for and that's where it kind of comes down to.

If you like the way it sounds with the rig and are comfortable with the tone that is all that matters and IME a lot of cables in the mid to high mid tier can do that and no one needs to spend a bunch or insane amounts on cables to have a better than average tone and an excellent tone in some cases. For me it was just coming from Radio Shack cables and then finally getting some decent like a Livewire/Monster and then Dimarzio and so forth.


Dimarzios ain't bad, they still are good and I use one in gold into my Princeton Reverb Reissue. I have a Divine Noise somewhere too and going straight into the Princeton it's a bit louder than my other cables for some reason. Both fantastic for plugging straight in. The Dimarzios are nice because of the Switchcraft plugs and the Divine Noise have G&H and these are great as well and bigger than your standard plugs more old school.

Sommer LLX are great too and some of the best and even something like an MXR ain't bad and people like Mogamis too and that works for a lot. Sommers are pretty cool because you can order them with Noise Free Hi-Con plugs and these things are great. Maybe one of the most underrated on all levels for price and value would be BTPA/Bestronics in Chicago especially the patches for those who want pure silence or close to it but othewise MXRs ain't bad and they cost a song. Dimarzio makes some nice patches too and they make those in NY I believe.

Both of my pedal boards are all custom built cables using Morgami and I have two 30’ custom built Mogami guitar cables. Had them for years. The second was a backup. Never needed to pull it out.

Sommer makes the Silver Spirit which are pretty cool and compared to other cables it offers a difference IMO.


Nvm the LLX which are great too and IMO is top rated and one of the best.

Those things are no joke and with Noise Free Hi-Con.......
