The passing of the torch

That's awesome man! Wondering if my boys will pick up an instrument one day.

Well I’m hearing dad, my fingers are hurting ?. At least I know she’s putting the time in

My daughter has dabbled on guitar for some time now but never really got serious and I never pushed the issue. It’s been a few years since even picked one up but recently said “dad, I want to play guitar” and I could tell at that moment that the time had finally come so today she got her first guitar. She‘s played sax for years so is somewhat musically inclined but I can’t wait to see where she takes this. It feels good to finally pass the torch ?View attachment 137647
I don't know if she would find this helpful but I recently discovered this guys' YT channel which led me to his lessons which I think are the best I've seen. He offers a free toolkit that is so thorough and well rounded it would keep someone busy for a while and IMO is worth more than most if not all the books I got in the 90s when I was starting out... and all for free.

The guy taught himself guitar at the age of 4 and was practicing 8-10 hours a day by 5. At 7 or 8 was discovered by Ozzy and opened a show for Ozzy in his hometown all in the same day. Then was taken under Via's wing and thrust into the spotlight all at the same time, so he is really good in front of the camera and has an amazing background. All this, IMO, makes him a unique and great teacher.

Dude that is awesome! My daughter wanted to play drums, guitar, bass, etc when she was little and then got into just Rap in middle and high school. A few years ago, she got back into rock music and then at the end of 2020 just decided to randomly buy a bass. Within a few months she was in a band with friends and now they are getting ready to release their album.

That’s awesome, congrats!! I always kept a couple inexpensive guitars on hand for the day my 2 sons would get into it. Never happened, :aww:

Yea it’s weird isn’t it how some gravitate towards it and others could care less?
