If you are like me, you have been watching the activities going with Fender and their actions regarding other manufacturers building “s” style guitars…. What a mess is all I will say. I had read for a while about Suhr guitars and their quality and finally got a chance to get two of them over the past year…. I haven’t played a Fender who has felt so good right out of the box! Kudos to Suhr company for creating such wonderful instruments that feels right at home from the start. And I can’t say enough about their customer service…. Top notch! First one is the Andy Wood tele I bought last summer and the last acquisition is the Thornley roughneck that I acquired these past few weeks. Amazing guitars

Suhr does make great guitars but the question is, is the 4K price tag worth it?

Before you answer pickup a Fender Professional ll or Ultra, then tell me it's worth 2 or 3 times the price.
Beat me to the punch.
Not dissing suhr but its just not worth the coin to me

Suhr makes wicked guitars, no question. I honestly don't think I could convince myself to buy new though. I had an Alt Pro T that was handily the best telecaster I've ever played... it fell victim to acquiring a jmp 2203 though. I miss it, but I'd make that trade again every time.

I think Suhr is like Anderson in that they are classified as “A mark” guitars where dealer cost is 50% of retail. I should’ve snatched one up when I worked in MI.

I was deciding back in 2000 over an Anderson or a guitar made by a friend of a friend, Driskill, and ultimately bought the Driskill for the exclusivity.

My friend brought over a Suhr he bought and we compared. They are super light guitars with excellent quality, fretwork, playability, etc.

Sound wise- a little dull compared to my Driskill, but that could come down to pickup selection.

While I like them, I probably wouldn’t pay more than $1,500 for a guitar nowadays. There are so many great deals out there. I picked up a USA pro mod Charvel for $799. It’s not $2,000 worse than a Suhr

I have never owned a Suhr or an Anderson - but I have played examples of both and remember being really surprised at how much 'better' they felt in my hands. Something about them. I do think a lesser priced guitar fresh off of a 'good' fret level / crown / polish and inotnated with a Peterson strobe delivers 90+% of that 'feel' for less $$$.

I got my first Suhr a few weeks ago and played it exclusively for about two weeks. Love it. Then I grabbed my EBMM Axis (Yuccatan blue with SS frets) off the rack. I bought the Suhr used for about half of what it would have cost new. And that used price is about what the Axis cost me new. They feel and sound different, Suhr has a little more fight in it, but I'd say there is no difference in build quality at all. I'll buy more Suhrs, but not new.

Suhrs are some of the nicest guitars I have played. They aren't my thing at all, but I can't deny how nice they are.

I have a Modern and an Andy Wood. Absolutley amazing guitars, they just feel and sound right to me. Honestly, as much as I love my Modern, the Andy Wood may be the best of the two.

I bought a new Tom A back in ‘99, and I paid $2100 delivered.

My other Tom A I bought used for $1200, which was my Tele.

My Suhr was bought used for $1340

I have great respect for Suhr, Pensa, Anderson and the like, but I can do anything in the world I need with my Charvel San Dimas USAs, which aren't exactly cheap either, but a lot less than the bootiques.
