I have a rack conditioner with 8 lit up rocker switches on the front and corresponding outlets on the back; I use to power preamps and rack gear that have power switches on the back, I guess I will wire it to one of those. I wouldn't want anything to go wrong with it, it's such a nice sounding solution. We absolutely love it.
I must admit we've only had the captor x a few days but have ran tracks with amps ranging from 100w superleads to Tweed and blackface fenders, love the way it sounds so far. Still trying to sort our ownhammer IR's into it but so far very impressed whit this product. I think they nailed it.
I'd power the unit down after using it if you could hook it into the switching system. I've got my gear all going through a UPS powered/staged Furman with 12(??) outlets off the back; when I'm not using the gear from one day to the next, I power it off at the power conditioner switch; just safer and no need to have potential voltage/current going where it's not needed - especially for a device like the CaptorX which doesn't rely on an ON/OFF switch
But that said, even for the stuff that does have ON/OFF switches, when I'm away from my gear for longer than 12 hours (you know, taking a few days off in advance kinda thing), I power my entire lab down and that includes shutting the mains off at the UPS level. Everything - black. Been doing it like this for years...no harm no foul. My DAW is on a separate feed, so it goes into sleep-mode when needed (computer don't like being powered on/off whatsoever, so...)
As for tracking with the CaptorX - it's incredibly impressive. It's totally changed how I've looked at "everything" - space required, SPLs required, the amount of time usually needed to get the mics "just right", not needing a warehouse of cabs, or a vault's worth of mega $$$ microphone inventories - it's incredible. Glad you're loving yours - I am running 2 units now and it's fkn amazing. Haven't played too much with WoS yet, but there really hasn't been a need to - the tones I'm getting outta my fave heads direct-to-desk are bloody addictive and the "feel" is bang on. My personal opinion YMMV but I think the TN DynIRs are the best on the market - period.
Two-Notes smacked it outta the park with this unit, I have to admit.
Anyway - my 2 cents - there it is.
