Thinking of selling my Les Paul Custom and buying a Suhr...

There is nothing that sounds like a Les Paul Custom......But it's not the most efficient design for my style of playing. I'm definitely a Stratocaster/Superstrat style player.

The LPC sits in a closet 95% of the time and only comes out for recording. Seems like a waste. I could have a real high end guitar that I can use all the time. I really only own what I play. Don't like to own tons of guitars that I don't play.

I'm thinking of a Suhr or Anderson. Likely a Suhr.

Am I losing my marbles? Should I be kicked in the marbles?

I'll buy your LPC for $600. Just putting that out there

Absolutely not. I've owned guitars such as some Gibson Les Pauls that were "popular" and have a long storied history where people hold them up to some untouchable status. One day, I woke up and said..."why am I playing this shit?" That's when I said fuck all the naysayers, and went with what I felt was "me", which ended up being in the custom super-strat category. I say, go for it! You won't be disappointed. Suhr makes excellent instruments. Piss on, all those old brands with their vintage appeal.

I would say keep the LPC if you can afford to. I know it seems like a waste, but it may prove very useful one day.

AND

Get a Suhr :D

I sold my LPC for the same reason and it didn't stay in tune very well. I have had a few Gibsons and they had the same issue. You cannot go wrong with Suhr, Anderson, or Melancon. Are you considering a Modern or Standard? I have not played an Anderson but trust some others that have. Don't discount Gerrards work. He is friends with Tom and does amazing work. Mine has a 30+ neck that is not that far off from a Les Paul neck . Thinner but still meaty. With the Suhr you will really have to decide on your options. The 16" radius is super nice, but I also like the 10-14 compound. Gerrards guitars are 10" radius and it is super easy to play.

I'm a big fan of LP's but not a big fan of expensive gear laying around that gets no use.

That was part of it. You know the "I'm a serious player I should have a Les Paul" thing. I've heard people say, "any guitarist worth anything has a Les Paul in their arsenal".

Well I call bullshit to that. I guess all the Stratocaster playing guitar GODS aren't serious guitarists.

On the other had, mine stays in tune great, sounds incredible and blows everybody away that hears it though my rig.......so, it's a tough call.

I owned a really nice Tom Anderson Drop Top. Sounded great, played great, but still can't hold a candle to the connection I have with my Les Pauls. They're home to me and offer everything I need.

Yeah, I understand. I started on Stratocasters and it's home for me.

May end up with a Custom Shop Fender Strat. Probably a more long term bet for me.

If you can afford it I'd recommend keeping the LPC and picking up some used Suhrs, TA's, or Fenders and figuring out what you really want. Half the fun is the chase!

I have played old Les Pauls among other Guitars for years and I recently got a suhr --- I like it much better then Anderson and you can always get another LP If yours is sitting and you would play the suhr......

Don't forget like a fire bird you can have gibson-esque wood and strat scale length which is cool... ie: Mahogany body and neck + Maple top ___ With the strat scale__ and unique Suhr feel/finish __ I can not put it down I love les pauls but I love the Suhr I like 25 1/2" scale... better I guess

I really don't think you'll get the sound of a Les Paul in a Suhr standard/modern.

But if you don't play the guitar go ahead and sell it...

Do whatever inspires you and makes you happy. Personally though I would keep it.....NOTHING sounds like a LPC.
