Thinking of selling my Les Paul Custom and buying a Suhr...

What other guitars do you have? If you have multiple SSS maple board strats like in your avatar, I'd probably get rid of one of those and save for the difference in $$$ to get a Suhr and keep the LPC. But I like having different guitars for different tones, YMMV (to the extent I don't really have any doubles at all, lol).

Until you get an Anderson Cobra.

May end up with a Custom Shop Fender Strat. Probably a more long term bet for me.
I'd highly recommend a Fender Custom. Had a Suhr S2 a while back, in addition to a couple of Fender USA guitars, and while the Suhr was pretty good, it simply couldn't keep up with the Fender Custom. Bought myself a '56 NOS and it's easily the best sounding Strat I've ever played. They're phenomenal guitars, and if you can get a good price on one, it's hard to go wrong.

I would love to try a Cobra! I had a Drop Top years ago...it was nice but nothing really special.

Sold my droptop too. Just prefer the 24 3/4 scale. Not really anything out there like the Cobra.

Ive went through this a few different times and every time I sell a LP I end regretting it so bad that I buy another. I say keep it and save for the suhr

So if you change the pups in the LPC then it will sound like other guitars?

Again......................

WHAT is it that makes an LPC sound the way it does that NO other company can copy??

Come on and break the 10 year running question that nobody has answered yet!

The Suhr will be built better, nobody can deny that.

Just sold a cream LPC, got an Anderson Bulldog. Gibson WISHES they could make a LP this good. Whoever says the Bulldog isn't as fat sounding as a LP....well thay probably didn't play one or just have Gibson loyalty on the brain because mine sounds like what i think of when i think FAT ASS tone, fatter than my last LPC. The LP was a little brighter though but that's not why i would buy a LP.

And the Bulldog kills the myth that bolt-on's can't get the same sustain or tone as a set-neck.

That's two  for the Bulldog. I have been waiting on some guys on RT to try them out first before I get one. How about some more info Dan on how it plays. Tom's bolt on necks don't bother me one bit because of the way it is set and no backing plate.

Found a used one. Mass Street Music in Kansas. I saved $1100 going with a used one.

It's 8lbs and that's with no chambering or stupid swiss cheese weight relief.  My solid guitar weighs less than some chambered Les Paul standards. :D

At this point the ONLY thing i liked better about my last Les Paul Custom was the way it looked.

One thing with Anderson or Suhr guitars you don't have to worry about is how they play. I just got it today, cranked it loud earlier. The neck pickup tone has that fat OOOOOOOOEW thing going on. But my last LP had a real fat neck which i had a tough time with, plus i couldn't get the action where i wanted because of a hump in the neck. And if you play in the A Pentatonic box at the 15th fret on the Bulldog it's a lot easier/better than on a Gibson. Much better string access up there.

The only thing i guess is the way the neck looks. But are you going to pose in the mirror with a guitar or are you going to want the best playing guitar you can find? Also, from what my ears tell me so far I'm not missing a Gibson AT ALL.

I'd like to try one sometime. Does it have all the contours like the Cobra? I'm really used to the Cobra / tele body now. Love the comfort of it.

I played my LP last week....talk about awkward feeling!

Many have extolled the virtues of 24 3/4" guitars and they are rad, BUT he said he is a super strat player/lover and he DOESN'T have a Suhr___ There are other Les Pauls out there for a later date __ Get the Suhr it will be fun __ they are very uniue and Astoundingly different _ I have a small pile of great Les Pauls -_ The Suhr has had my attention fully as of Late You can do things on it you can not do on other axes imo__

I guess try one out

I'll take some when i can. I've been a zombie today and pretty much all week, been sick all week and i just can't shake it. My daughter started day care 2 weeks ago and i can't believe were all this sick already. I think this is the worst cold I've ever had.

Don't sell it. Get yourself a Suhr whenever you can afford it. At that point you maybye stepped up to a PRS

These "I am thinking" threads are funny. I can't tell if the OP is seeking board approval, wants to be talked out of it, wants others to make a decision for him/her, or just opening up the floor to indifference and opinion.
