It's cool that a girl is ripping on the guitar, but yea I do think it's kind of a novelty thing, because honestly and people may call me a dick, musically and guitar wise I don't see anything special about her that blows me away. That being said I think it's great that a girl who is doing pop also can really play and is getting out there and putting it in music. If this was a guy I don't think they would get any attention at all though...

When I listen to Andy I am blown away by his technical prowess and really cool lines and sounds he creates, where as this it's just like meh, now if she could play like Andy, then I'd be impressed haha.

of course it is a "angle" you can line up the "sausage" a mile long that can play the fiddle. Not so much on the female side. Nobody is saying she has the chops of Andy but I can tell you I know Andy pretty well and he would think she rocks. I am sure he will chime in. Its not all about what dude can go fast with the math rock shred, to me that is wicked boring. Its not often you get a little pop girl who is tapping the leads of her pop song, thats the hook.

I hope you don't think I was putting her down in anyway, I have no room to talk, I'm not out there opening for Vai, playing for Michael Jackson or any of the great things she's done and until I do I don't have any room to insult her, and even still that's not the type of person I am or want to be, or want to project I'm all about respect for other people. I was more speaking from a person level of enjoyment she hasn't done anything that has really drawn my attention musically.

Now as I stated earlier it is GREAT that a girl is out there doing what she is doing and I give her great amounts of respect for that, shes doing what I want to do but better than me and she's probably younger to boot, so again I'm in no way down playing her accomplishments as a musician or a guitar player.

I gotta give her credit. She was featured in a few of the guitar magazines several years ago, and it would appear that she has used the publicity to grow her career. Just the other day I noticed that my 13 yr-old daughter had a few of her songs on her Ipod.

I'll take that over all the lip-synching, auto-tuning stuff that is capturing most of the teens these days.
