I gotta give her credit. She was featured in a few of the guitar magazines several years ago, and it would appear that she has used the publicity to grow her career. Just the other day I noticed that my 13 yr-old daughter had a few of her songs on her Ipod.

I'll take that over all the lip-synching, auto-tuning stuff that is capturing most of the teens these days.

indeed i have! and thats a goal im gonna see completed!

as far as her chops, i kinda feel like with the power of the internet, we as musicians have become over critical because we are constantly bombarded with the greatest players in the world. I think Orianthi can play, i think she has a very good musical approach. With that said i dont think she has the tone of say a Pete Thorn or the velvet touch of a Brett Garsed. But lets be honest, those type of players are in the upper echelon and make up .0000000001 percent of the guitar playing population. I dont think its quite fair comparing a good rock/pop guitarist (like Orianthi) to these upper level of elite players. She is really, really good when compared to the standard rock/pop player and i think she is doing what a ton of players would do when a killer opportunity is offered. I mean, come on, she is capitalizing on her situation and i know i would do the same. its a career path, and the thing alot of guys forget is that there are a ton of monsters who are content making youtube vids and staying in their comfort zones whether that be their bedroom or studio or gigging once a blue moon. And cool, those guys are happy with that and thats awesome too, i sure as hell know im gonna steal their licks when i can! But i feel like this chick (who i intend on snagging if the opportunity arises) has been offered some killer gigs (yeah its mostly cuz she is hot as well as being a good player) and she is gonna set up a good business for herself and make some cash doing what she obviously loves. I give major props to anyone who gets to do that

girl opened for Steve Vai in front of a pretty judgmental guitar wank audience and pulled it off, cant fault her too much. Anyway different strokes I guess. I dig her, nobody is saying she is the next coming of Segovia but I will give her the respect for getting it done in a very very marketable way.

She's really good and would make a great studio guitarist as well as having a great live sound and image. Yeah, a large part of her getting noticed is because she's a chick who can play, and that's always going to get a reaction (the radio dj on the beat it video was a little over the top, and almost sexist about her skills).
The fact of the matter is, she's can write songs, looks good, sings well and can probably play better than many of the dudes on music forums. She's got something there. Oh, and Andy, good luck!

Sorry, I can't appreciate the novelty. Her music is terrible, even if she could pull off (she didn't) the beat it solo she really has nothing going for her as far as making relevant music goes.

I cant believe she is getting slagged all over the place on guitar forums. I mean have guitarists actually been listening to 90% of the new music coming out these day??? And now you have a 20 something female who can ACTUALLY PLAY and she is getting blasted because she doesnt supposedly have the chops of a guitar god and some feel the need to tear her down. Gimme a break!! Ok, so all you whiners would rather have another pop queen the likes of Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, etc... vice someone who is actually doing whatever she can to bring the guitar solo back to the forefront, that may ACTUALLY GET KIDS TO PICK UP AN INSTRUMENT vice a freekin video game...and all some of you can do is say she sucks...all the while sitting back and also bitching about how music today blows because there are artists who play and its all resampled crap or using auto tuners??? WTF???

As I said on another forum....when I see my 9 year old running around the house with her ipod on and jamming on air guitar to Orianthi...I know for FACT its a good thing for the future of guitar AND music industry in general. You figure she has the blessing of Steve Vai AND Carlos Santana...if she doesnt have some killer chops right now, she definitely will at some point.

Personally, I think she is killer....first person my kids have wanted to listen to that I can really get into and wouldnt mind seeing in concert....I have had the unfortunate pleasure of getting to see THe Jonas Brothers, Avril Lavigne, Paramore, and countless others in concert with my kids and had to literally just close my eyes and bear it, where with Ori I am pretty sure I will have no problems having some fun seeing her and can actually tell my kids that this is one artist you should all look up to. Having 4 daughters will immediately change your outlook on music that young people listen to today...I GUARANTEE IT

I wasn't knocking her at all, I think she is talented and I love what she is doing, I just am not into it... honestly for whatever reason for pop music I find Taylor Swift songs more catchy "poppy" obviously they don't have lead guitar in them like Orianthi, but the musicianship is fantastic it's just not HER. I'm glad people dig her and I hope she finds tons of success and I'm sure she will! And yes it's much better your kids are listening to this than Cyrus... god I can't take her, and I've never even heard a Jonas brothers song so I can't speak for them LOL. And I think it goes with out stating that yea, if she was a guy her playing would be considered nothing special... that was the only thing I've said that could be considered a "knock" on her, that doesn't mean she's bad, she's great, but as someone said earlier there's 100000 youtube heroes out there doing what she does... On a side note Suffocated is a really cool track and I like it a lot better than the other big release.

Her production is great, and her voice is actually pretty good as well. I think people should really view her as the entire package and then realize how much talent is there, she sings, she plays, she probably writes a lot of this stuff too I would imagine... She is def. something special, especially the fact that shes only 24 and the first girl to play like this that has made it really big, that I know of. Hopefully will be a great role model for girls to come.
