Too me it’s a European justice for all . Musically lol

I love ALL Emperor, but agree that this one is especially brilliant. Talk about leaving you wanting more.
One of my favorite metal albums. 10/10

Justice had some bloat and would’ve been better if 10 minutes shorter. Prometheus is fucking perfect as is.
Both perfect to me . But man there’s so many layers going on . It’s so progressive but every part of the album is still fucking catchy af . It’s addictive

The last Emperor I heard was that hyped up ep they did after Nightside in the late 90's.
It sounded like everyone in the band was playing different songs at the same time.

This one’s not like those . And has good production . Their old albums don’t

First time hearing them. That music is fucking EPIC. Thanks for posting this.

I hope it's OK for a boomer to like this. :m17::rock:\:D/

lol il glad you liked ! Ya it’s super layered and so thought out

I love this album, but it doesn't have the same atmosphere or melodic creativity of Nightside or Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk

You can tell they definitely came into their own as musicians, though

I'm scared to click on it based on some of techdeth's previous posting about music he loves.

At least this qualifies as music, probably not the best intro to the band (or black metal in general) though

I just hate the production in the other albums . It’s just emperor . But say old mayhem like their crappy productions . I always felt emperors music was too good for their old production . The music just does not go with it in my mind. But hey we all see and hear things different. It’s like the production makes me sad fur the actual great music underneath the cloud of trebly mess

If you think THAT is a trebly mess, you would shit your fucking pants if you heard like 90% of real black metal :hys:

Oh my god tech that is one of the funniest things you've said man

The first two emperor albums are literally like HiFi "Dark side of the Moon" or Black Album fancy shmancy productions compared to most black metal dude

Just so everyone has a reference point, this is what tech is calling a "Trebly mess"

And this is what the rest of the genres mainstay, greatest bands who every other band tries to emulate sound like

I listen to black metal . I just hate all the productions . Sometimes it does make some albums better . But ya old emperor sounds like bob rock did it compared to some of this

I'm just sayin', it makes sense to judge them by their peers, not by the standards of other genres :dunno:

This popped up on my feed the other day lol I’ll admit I just recently found out about blackmetal… Yes I live under a rock.. @DanTravis62 post about the Drudkh- Thaw album actually introduced me to it.. Man those guys are dope & I’ve been really enjoying their music. True storytellers. I’m still very confused on production side of Ulver- Hymn I. The electric recording sounds like a swarm of Asian murder hornets, & the acoustic like an untouched high alpine lake surrounded by freshly fallen snow.. Why?

Tech, I'm with you, I don't like the shitty screechy productions either, even from genre-staples. My bass player once gave me a copy of Emperor's Anthems... I loaded it in my car's CD player and almost drove directly to the workshop, thinking my engine failed big time. 😱😉

Interestingly enough, Dark Throne's 1st album had way more of a thicker, death metal vibe to it than their later work and one awesome album I particularly enjoy as a genre's best, is Storm of the Light's Bane by Dissection.
There's this scream somewhere right after a mellow interlude in "Where Dead Angels Lie", that's as bone chilling as you'll ever hear. Awesome music.
