Amazing!!!! I actually never met him, but we have mutual friends and Alexi has always been described as a soft spoken, humble and kind person. In my opinion his contribution to metal music cannot be overstated. The way he combined virtuosity with simplicity and mixed aggressive modern metal riffing with giant almost 80's metal style pop chorus...was seamless and undeniable. I put him right up there with the best (Cantrell, Hetfield, Sykes, Jones). Just my opinion.

That was the Unholy Alliance tour, i still have my backstage pass and it was 6/16/06, 20 years and 2 days ago lol. Slayer, Lamb of God, Bodom, Mastodon and my buddies band Thine Eyes Bleed, whos room that vid is from. I remember Alexi just strolling in and next thing i know hes chatting with my friend i brought, who worked for Mercedes and had a huge man crush on him, like they were long lost friends about European sports cars as we were just downing shots lol. That was before they played too. I still joke with my friend about how one more shot and they were gonna start making out

I need to go back and listen to Bodom again, i respected his playing while singing as well, but they were just a little too "Euro" for me at that time and i never really got into them as i probably should have. I remember he was quite the star at that time, for him to just be hanging with us two random dudes drinking on a tour that big in the opening bands dressing room, before he played even is pretty wild to think about now.
