This is what burns my ass in regards to the axe-fx zealots.

For the most part, it also seems to be the same people over and over praising new products.

And, there's the group who buy one of everything, only to sell it a week later. The same guys go through a dozen rigs a year, are never ever happy...yet their opinion somehow carries more weight?

In the end, every player is different. Yet they all sound just about the same no matter what they plug in to.

Screw it.

I can honestly say that no piece of gear inspires me to the point of tears. Nor will that ever happen. Get a life, man!

Sheesh...

Now if you'll excuse me i need to go home and cradle my Axe-FX in my arms and lovingly gaze into its sparkling LEDs... Sigh... :inlove:

Boy, I'm really holding back a Scott Peterson stompdown in an effort to be a good guy

An amazing show of restraint, Carl! I'm impressed...

Whats funny is I've been back and forth with the AxeFX probably about 4 times now bought on the hype and new updates. Amazingly each time has exceeded my expectations with each update. (1 standard and 3 ultras) I don't gig or anything so my uses are purely for entertainment, even with its versatility I always end up dialing in really similar patches. I probably haven't even touched 10% of its potential as Ed or others have. Not sure about many of you but I like dialing in my amps a certain way, and no matter what I always end up with a similar tone regardless of amp. So for me the AxeFX is going back out the door as much as I would love to keep it. SOMEONE BUY MINE :D

Im guilty of buying the latest greatest and posted a few honeymoon reviews in my time to alter on sell it. :D

Oh yeah, I've done it several times too and I'm trying to stop!

Chris

I'm pretty sure everyone is guilty of that, I'm surprised my Variplex has stayed this long   Knowing me stuff goes out the door about less than a month later.

I love the axe-fx. I think it's one of the most incredible pieces of gear to come out in awhile. I really wish I could spend more time with it but I know i'll own another at some point. Right now just isn't the time for me to be owning something like that. More important things going on in my life and if selling it will help simplify things just a little, then so be it. I would love to keep it and pair it with the DSL I have coming but there's just no way I can do that...especially with xmas coming up.

I think me and a number of other guys are in the same boat. Whether it's because it's overwhelming to program, or because if you want to run it FRFR you've got to shake up all of your other gear too, or because like in my case, it's not inexpensive for a preamp. So...that's one area where I think the hype-buy-sell cycle is a little bit different than for a regular amp. A lot of people jumped on it and then couldn't or didn't want to make the rest of it happen.

Did you really find this to be the case? Because with the PC editor, it is really, really easy for me. And you can audition your changes in real time. I dunno - I find this one of the most attractive things about the Axe. For a very deep product, you can get to everything quickly and easily in the PC editor. I tweak stuff I'd never have dreamed of with my older multi-efx that I couldn't hook to a GUI...

No, not at all, and I didn't even use the PC editor. But from guys who are coming from a regular amp with no experience with rack gear or pods or whatever, I can definitely see that being an issue for them.

I think it's a mistake to think that any one piece can be for everybody. And to tout it as such is stupidity...whether its the Axe-Fx, or a Strat, or a LCD TV or a g-spot-vibrator.....or a brand of beer. :gethim:

It's also stupid to dismiss any gear for someone else's needs. Lord willing (or the Universe, or Fish-Hat, or Flying Spaghetti Monster), I'll never hit record with a POD again... but I've heard a zillion clips that flat out RULE using them...and I've made 2 cds with them myself.

In summary, everyone wants to seem smartest. And most opinions are useless. Need proof? Post a pic of a woman you think is hot...and await the bullshit.

Just watching the tutorial on the Editor left me with same impression as you Steve. Im looking forward to diggin into that when I acquire the interface and coming up with 20 or so new patches that I have ideas for... the audition aspect is sexy as hell!!

Just wondering - which g-spot vibrator do you enjoy most?

Yeah, ok, I see what you are saying. The PC editor is way easier than the native, "on unit" editing interface though...

Dude - it is completely intuitive. You'll love working with it. Much easier than the "on unit" editing. I don't think I'd have "dug in" near as quickly or as much without it. I hate those little "on unit" screens and scrolling through pages and pages of tiny information screens. The PC/Mac editor is tits!

I have a vintage 'Fredericks' combo g-spot-vibe / prostate-milker. I only use it with non-alkaline 'C' Ever-Readys ..NEVER AC power...the servo-cycle just isn't the same. Any thing else is just a cheap imitation.
