Dude - it is completely intuitive. You'll love working with it. Much easier than the "on unit" editing. I don't think I'd have "dug in" near as quickly or as much without it. I hate those little "on unit" screens and scrolling through pages and pages of tiny information screens. The PC/Mac editor is tits!

Steve
Like I said, I havent even used it but watching the Video tutorial was amazing. Having it layed out in that kind of wide open view with all possible parameters at your disposal without having to page turn etc made it very appealing to me

Just wondering - which g-spot vibrator do you enjoy most?

Steve

I have a vintage 'Fredericks' combo g-spot-vibe / prostate-milker. I only use it with non-alkaline 'C' Ever-Readys ..NEVER AC power...the servo-cycle just isn't the same. Any thing else is just a cheap imitation.

Nice! Thanks for the "tip"!

So it is really vintage, correct? You didn't just "relic" it yourself?

Steve

I don't get this thread . . .

I've had a POD 1 and did an upgrade to 2 years ago. The POD itself was a quantum step for recording, although I got tired of it after a year or so. Then I've missed two POD generations and software emus until I've stumbled over this - all Ed's fault. Its cool, it gets some creativity out of me and fun to use. I'm still using it with one of my own preamps - and the unit covers all the other tunes I need (in total 12 or so, including redundant with just an added harmonizer) with my band (I hate pedals except midi pedals and the RT Plank Cranker :D ) - and still has a ton of sounds which I didn't even discover yet (or dislike like Pumples and such).

Its cool, useful and fun - so where's the problem?

And not that anybody would be really interested, but I'm still building amps. Not just because the AF has a built in loop btw :D

I could have gone my whole life without knowing that the phrase "prostate-milker" actually existed...

but I know i'll own another at some point.

I think me and a number of other guys are in the same boat. Whether it's because it's overwhelming to program, or because if you want to run it FRFR you've got to shake up all of your other gear too, or because like in my case, it's not inexpensive for a preamp. So...that's one area where I think the hype-buy-sell cycle is a little bit different than for a regular amp. A lot of people jumped on it and then couldn't or didn't want to make the rest of it happen.

I'm with you here. I just didn't have a need or the funds to use it where it excells, as a preamp/effects unit paired with a tube power amp and guitar cab. I still think it's unbeatable in this set up. It was to expensive for me to justify using it just as a home recording tool and FRFR replacement for my POD xt live. I would have had to sell my tremoverb and spend more money I don't have.

If Fractal comes out with a $500 stripped down floor version with USB like a POD Xt, I'd buy it in a heart beat. At that point it might be targeted towards the masses too much for some folks.

I hate it too.

But I did force myself to learn the onboard interface. I'm faster on it, than I am with the PC editor...which is a life saver at soundcheck. YMMV.

Yes, I'd NEVER buy some proletarian unit like that. Ewwwww... MY social standing would not allow it...

I meant the part about a device being actually marketed as a "prostate milker"...

Did you really find this to be the case? Because with the PC editor, it is really, really easy for me. And you can audition your changes in real time. I dunno - I find this one of the most attractive things about the Axe. For a very deep product, you can get to everything quickly and easily in the PC editor. I tweak stuff I'd never have dreamed of with my older multi-efx that I couldn't hook to a GUI...

Steve

I was using the PC editor with the POD XT 3-4 years ago and yeah, it was MUCH easier to tweak. I even used it with an old Flextone II combo, if I'm not mistaking.
Yup, I was too, however, try as I might, I was never really that inspired by the resulting tones. That has not been the case with the Axe...

I think it's a mistake to think that any one piece can be for everybody. And to tout it as such is stupidity...whether its the Axe-Fx, or a Strat, or a LCD TV or a g-spot-vibrator.....or a brand of beer. :gethim:

It's also stupid to dismiss any gear for someone else's needs. Lord willing (or the Universe, or Fish-Hat, or Flying Spaghetti Monster), I'll never hit record with a POD again... but I've heard a zillion clips that flat out RULE using them...and I've made 2 cds with them myself.

In summary, everyone wants to seem smartest. And most opinions are useless. Need proof? Post a pic of a woman you think is hot...and await the bullshit.

Just wondering - which g-spot vibrator do you enjoy most?

First of all, I do not own a POD or an AF. I see the pros and cons to these types of units. With that said, I will bet that the POD is on more grammy nominated recording than the AF. Line6 has put big money into giving professional musicians what they are asking for in a modling unit. I mean hell, just look at the POD Pro X3!!! There are also way too many touring pros who use the POD to give any validity to the statement that the AF is far superior. Once again, cork sniffers will be cork sniffers. I'll stick to my lowly tube amp for now. :)
