I don't buy into the mechanical thing on this one due to the nature of the piece. It has a lot of breaks and slower moments and a lot of vibrato and sliding in and out of notes. The kids who rip out a straight shred could easily just be mechanical repetition but I think this kid shows a lot of feel and timing for his age. You can't tab out a good sounding vibrato.

Doesn't mean they can actually play guitar...how many hours do you think he spent practicing the motion....yes I said motion. Sorry for the rant but its getting out of hand with all this bedroom tab, instructional video fucking crap look what I can do playing. I have a Grade 8 in classical guitar. Not once was I taught to improvise. I spent 10 years reading manuscript & playing other composer's music for 3 or 4 hours a day in my bedroom.

Guess I don't have any talent either.

My god, the kids 12. And he can smoke. So maybe he can't improvise. Maybe he can. Who know's but he'll have plenty of time to learn because he's surely got the chops. It's just beyond me why you would put that kind of comment out there that you did.

He may be creative or he may not. But to say you can't tell if the kid has talent is just a stupid comment. Even if his talent is copying from a video, tabs whatever. That took some serious time and dedication to learn that. It was just amazing for anybody, let alone a 12 year old.

lol..the meaning of talent might be different for everybody I guess. I agree with everything you just said except for the stupid comment part I was just making an observation of what seems to be the trend these days...if you want to pick a fight you came to the wrong place. I stand by every word I said in my posts and if you disagree that's fine. The kid has great potential of course any idiot can see that....what don't you get?

I'm not surprised anymore by any of the young guns out there who can really play. I'd love to hear where his playing takes him. Hopefully it's something creative and original. That's what would surprise me.....sadly.

Pretty sad that we tend to be cynical and outright jaded whenever young kids (even adults for that matter) with talent come around.

Same goes for the 12 year old doing the Vai piece. Kid has promise and skill yet the haters rolled in droves.
