This Voltage Regulator safe to use with a vintage Marshall?

I'm not much of a huge EVH fan anymore, but I do know that he used a variac with his Super Lead to drop the voltage down to 90v to partly control the volume, and that this also introduces some sag to the tone. Since I recently got my '81 2203 (I know it's different than a SL) back in working shape, I want to be able to actually test it out properly, but my current living situation doesn't allow me to have the MV any higher than 9 o'clock. I'm looking into possibly this and a Weber Mass attenuator. I just plan on using both of them conservatively, like line voltage down to 90-105v, and the Weber taking off -3 or -6dB and bumping the MV up until its at the same point as without them. Still loud, just tamed, I don't plan on choking it from MV10 down to whisper volume.

This is the VReg I found, but it's so cheap I had to ask lol

I would personally look for someone locally who can install power scaling, or get a good attenuator, but I have limited experience with both. But I have lots of experience with amps not sounding great because I can't crank them enough.

Power scaling basically drops the plate voltage, and bias voltage to the power tubes making them capable of less output power, and making it easier on the tubes. Also the voltage for the heaters is still ran at a proper voltage

Interesting idea. Not sure I like it though. Maybe I'll just grab an attenuator.

Someone in my JCM800 mod thread suggested to put a 100k resistor after the MV pot to drop volume. I may rig up a switch to do that, similar to how I'm going to do the gain knob. The gain switch is going to have a Stock/More Gain/Way More Gain type of thing, so I may make a similar switch for the MV pot with Stock/Quieter/Way Quieter, with a 100k resistor for quieter, and maybe 470k for way quieter. I wonder if that would work.
