Just to clarify things, Fender is going after this through copyright (ala as an artistic piece of work) and not trademark (ala Gibson). Hilariously the German law firm for FMIC claimed that the 1954 Stratocaster was inspired by Cadillac's and Mustangs of the time, except that the Mustang wasn't first made until 1964.

KDH goes over it in his video.

Helluva strategy. Sue a foreign knockoff and that won’t show up for court, get your initial win and threaten everyone.
I wonder if other companies can do the same with tuners and threaten Fender to remove all tuners off their guitars.

I’ll argue with myself here…what if fender “wins” and it forces creative builders to innovate. This also requires a very traditionalist community to be more open minded

Or what if fender “loses” and it forces them to be more creative and innovative ? People need to seriously stop buying crazy expensive Strats and especially teles.

I personally like trying new designs but most of time the usual designs hold up just fine and the differences are pretty minimal. I know the basic feature set that works for me but am always looking for a new mousetrap.
