Time for the next installment of....what solo are you working on?

I've done a couple of these in the past, and surely others have too, but it's time to answer up boys....what solo art thou working on?

Currently, it's Eyes Of A Stranger by Queensryche; the best solo on that album.
My band is doing a few Ozzy songs, so right now it's I Don't Know, Mr. Crowley, and Flying High Again.

My local tone fest group has been thinking about trying to get Pete Lesperance to come to one of our future events.

I honestly avoided the band for years simply because I thought the name was goofy

That was a mistake because their shit is killer and Pete is an insanely talented player

Similarly for me I was not really into the ballads when I was younger. "I'm not a damn queer!"
Come to find out over the years, I'm fine with the ballads. I'm just deeply closeted.

Seriously though, the band has lots of great melodies and the vocals of the whole band are killer. The first two records for sure are great, and the rest I just haven't listened to yet and don't want to give an opinion.

The solos in "Peace Sells" by Megadeth. Chris' solos are quite difficult to replicate accurately.

Another solo I've been working on is "Them Bones" by Alice In Chains. It's not such a difficult solo to play, it's just tricky getting the timing right. Kinda hard when it's in 7/8 time too.

Soloing in an odd time with groove and feeling is such a tricky skill!

Yesterday I started working on the solos for You Can Still Rock in America. Don't know if I'm ever going to that Jeff Watson tapping stuff right though. And it feels like the kind of thing I'll never be able to maintain without regularly playing it. Then I started going over Cliffs of Dover again, need to get that one down correctly. I was always doing the intro wrong and it's harder to relearn stuff you've been doing wrong forever than to learn it right the first time. I was using my EBMM EVH with stainless steel frets, so the vibrato is a little easier that way.

Pride & Joy, for a family wedding gig.

Easy to play the notes, hard to make it feel right. Shockingly fun though, I haven’t actually learned a SRV tune since high school.

I am NOT a leads player but finally feeling comfortable with No More Tears and literally this morning started Crazy Train.

Only some decades late on this boat...
