I've owned pretty much every amp on your list and there's no winner here. It seems to work for me if I own a few different. I get tired of one and switch to the other and so on ....or you can just buy a Kemper.

I think I would miss that organic 'tube' feel and sound with the Kemper.. haven't tried one personally yet but just haven't found the 'feel' in any modeler yet to date. And I can only afford 1.. hell, I really can't even afford 1 with my current situation but I need it for my sanity

If you ever get to Milwaukee you can stop over and play through my Kemper, I think you might change your mind.

why are Splawns just dismissed here? I have a Splawn mod Marshall with KT88's thats just killer.

I Really like what i've heard from the Splawn Quickrod with the B+ Option. I Personally have 2 Slash sig Jubilees & i love them, i just need to get them retubed.

I've had 2 of those..a plexi ri and JCM 800 Splawn mods both with KT88s..they were good but like 3rd tier down from the Jubilee, Camerons/Fortin/Gower, then Splawn IMO. Nice amps definitely..maybe splitting hairs here lol..all just opinion anyway.

I have 2 Camerons too. I think my Splawn mod is pretty cool. I put 5751's in the first 2 spots to calm it down a bit. Its a complete gainiac head. H'es done some cool ones IMO.

Ive owned a Nitro and QR... liked the QR much more... and both were older models with touchy ass pots..very percussive with jangly mids. Scott makes a very good amp... I just never warmed to the 'feel' or overall sound of his models.. my guitar player still plays a QR. Plenty of aggressiveness, gain, cut... Very tight, immediate and to me, 'cold' on the fingers. I bet it tracks pretty damn well.... I use my rig for all live apps only.

By no means knocking Splawns.... those amps just wouldn't come up in 'my' Friedman/Cameron/Fortin/Gower/etc comparison.

Ive heard great things Steve.. wish there were more reviews and clips out there. I know you're a seasoned player and gear nut like us... I love your design both cosmetically and layout wise.. And that pic is f'n awesome

Cory you have had a crap load of gear!!, Maybe if you could articulate what you liked and disliked about each amp that you have owned you would be able to find your (the one!!) amp based on that list.

Dan Gower Killer Kali++ My favorite amp by far thus far.. Mine has added 4th gain stage AND sat(diode clipping), full clean, mid shift, power section controls, gain1/2, master 1/2, ...etc..etc.. all footswitchable.

Yes, great amp of course!! The 4th gain stage is where it is at and it slays!! The diode clipping is sounds damn good, but it does not compare to the diode clipping on the Atomica and far as the master volume taper. I also need to break down and buy a good MIDI pedal though for the Switch Gizmo I have.

I feel like Mike Lickliter's work should be given a name in this, too. I seriously love my amp I got from him, and I've had a few of the ones on that list from above. Great dude, killer amps.

*edit: VHT amps, the Ultralead in particular, are a wonderful "do it all" sort of amp (for me, personally) as well.

Cured my sound boredom with an install of Amplitube on my computer. Running through some Krk6's. I haven't even scratched the surface on all the Fender gear yet. 2 huge twin reverb surf rigs have me going strong. Lots of Marshally goodness too!

I have an Egnater modded Marshall JCM 800 100 watt that is awesome. It has a fourth 12AX7 as an extra gain stage and a fifth for the tube buffered loop. It's his Megadrive Preamp mod that was published in Guitar Player Magazine back in '95 (the issue where Dweezil Zappa interviews EVH). GREAT amp.

If u have 4K buy a Wizard Modern Classic or Friedman BE-100 and call it a day.

If you have 2K buy an old 100 watt Marshall JMP and drop another 1K to Friedman and have KS mods done.

If you have less than 2K buy a used Metro amp and have Friedman mod it.

If you give Scameron ur amp or $$$ you will never see it again.
