I love TA and JS because they are no-bullshit dudes. They are clearly trying to make their product the best it can be without selling any snake oil.

My thoughts as well, just putting out a quality instrument while bringing new ideas to the plate such as TA's heel design.

The recess of the Tone- pros on the Bulldog is the shit, another idea that just escapes Gibson.

I think he has to recess it that because if I'm not mistaken the bulldog neck is not angled back like a gibby. But I've never played one so I am just guessing out of my a-hole.

Love how JS says I could have skipped the plek machine and just bought a nicer house. The fact that he didn't says all you need to know.

I much prefer an angled bridge/neck pocket. Strats and other guitars that are not angled are way less comfortable to me for rhythm playing. I do intricate thrash rhythms like Hetfield and John Schaffer of Iced Earth (who both also use Les Pauls or guitars with an angled neck pocket/T.O.M. bridge). For some reason it just feels much more comfortable. I'm guessing that's one of the reasons Gibson doesn't do it. It would guarantee that people like me would not buy another Gibson.

I have a Bulldog and no the neck isn't angled, but the Bulldog is easier to play and more comfortable than any Gibson I've ever touched. Everyone has their owns tastes though.

I'm not doubting it's more comfortable for you. The thing is, like you said, we all have our own tastes. I find, as do many other rhythm players, that an angled neck pocket with a non-recessed T.O.M. bridge is way more comfortable for gallops, triplets and other similar rhythms. I like strats and superstrats for soloing in the studio, but since for me I'm playing rhythm for 85% of a song, an angled neck pocket with non-recessed T.O.M. feels way more comfortable.

john and tom are the best in the world at what they do. even though they are builders, they are a huge inspiration for my personal playing. i wanna play guitar as good as they can build em. im not there yet but its there passion and attention to detail that is really outstanding
