Frank Marino has been using Tommy's modded Marshalls for a couple of years now and thats saying something, He was NEVER a Marshall guy.

I was talking to him about it and he was blown away that Id even heard of Tommy. He loves them and cant say enough good about the tone. Yes, they can get very loud!!!

Friggin Harry Cody and Shotgun Messiah made me a a Tommy Folkesson believer for sure!!

One of the best modded Marshall tones I've heard on these forums. Very nice!
You know what? After reading some of your posts throughout the year and based on your description of what you like ,I reallty think that you would Love Tommy's work because of how he gets his distortion. It's my understanding that It is generated from driving a tube (Think of slaving built into the amp) It's like tube o/p distortion instead of massive preamp gain. it's pretty darn Clever IMHO

Yeah that definitely sounds like my kind of amp. Too bad you can't get a hold of them over here.

You can if you know any one in Sweden. The shipping would cost a small fortune but it would be worth it

Tommy is one of my all time favorite Modders. I wanted him to Mod an amp for me but he wasn't keen on doing one for me because I live in the States and I gather that he has had some problems with the shipping and Such in the past. With that said, His work is awesome!!

Yeah, Tommy is hesitant shipping overseas. The reasons is the hassle of shipping and the fact that he is a one man operation and he has all the work he needs (and more) at the moment.

how much is 9700kr in american?

9700 SEK is about $1470 in the current (low) dollar rate. That includes the 4 channel class-A mod with effects loop and a footswitch.

I'll be picking up my amp (the one in the vid) on Monday and I will talk to Tommy about the interest here.
If anyone is seriously interested please PM me and I'll see what I can do.

The class A part is a mini power amplifier built with a 12at7 tube, a little transformer and a load. This class A circuit sits between the regular preamp and power amp to get "power amp distorsion" regardles of what volume the real power amp runs at.

The amplifier has 4 channels (clean, crude, crunch and lead) with the controls sitting on the rear face.
The bite control is EQ before distorsion to be able to set optimal sound for single coils or humbuckers.

What does a Cameron mod cost?

I know its a lot of money, but its not like he is just swapping a couple of resistors. The amp gets a total remake and you get a custom footswitch for channel switching.

This is an earlier mod, but I think the amount of modding is about the same:

Since the MK IV mod is more extensive, it's probably more work, not less :)
A new power amp in miniature, and four new channels... It's more or less a new amp up to the original power amp.

He also mods these, simpler mods though.

What amp was that before the mod? Sounds killer.

It's actually my amp. It's a Marshall Super PA from -69. It's been heavily modified over the years but it still got it's original Dagnall transformers (the power amp is intact)

Hm, should we have an amp fest soon? ;)

Basement of FAL, couple of cases of 2,8 beers, some guitars, some full stacks, some shredding buddies. Mike them suckers and do some quality riffing? ;)

Hmmm... Sounds like a plan :-)

Man, listening to it again, it's still very impressive. That is a killer sounding amp.

I picked up my amp today and played it at Tommy's place for an hour or so. Man!!! what a great sounding amp!!! It can do so much, but what really impresses me is how dynamic it is and how extremely well it cleans up.
We did also discuss the interest showed by a number of forumites both here and at HRI. It didn't sound like it was impossible to set something up, but he needed to think it over. I'll get back to those of you that have PM'ed me when I know more.
