Tata! Here's my new Folkesson! This time it's a 1983 JMP 100 watts Scandinavian version! It's got Tommy's iconic Eternal Classic mod plus not 1 but 2 Metal Switches (as requested by yours truly). Not enough time to mess around with this fucker but here's are two clips
The first one is the eternal classic with the gain at 7 and the second one / metal switch 1 with the bass at 1 and mids at 8 😂
I'm using a mesa boogie 212 IR

More clips to come soon!

Ive heard your youtube clips, and they sounded way better than this.

The first clip sounded best. Both had too much gutless distortion happening over top though. The 2nd clip being way too much. Felt like no balls were attached to the tone. Like a fizzled 5150.

Almost sounded like a preamp without a power amp.

Sounds kind of smeared and busy where it doesnt need to be. Annihilating the clarity altogether.

But congrats on the amp, I know it probably sounds sick in the room.

Head is a ‘79 but it doesn’t change how good it sounds.i can only imagine what it’s like in the room.
Actually looked closer at the serial and it might be an ‘80. L is at the end of ‘79 serial numbers. ‘79 is when they put the serial on the front like that. Did they keep the JMP cosmetic longer in Canada?

I agree, the 50w sounded better/less fizz. After how many clips you've made you know you know. That SRGX was unbelievable and well defined/clarity ect. It may sound better in the room but this is not your best bro. Hope you didn't sell the 50w like you sold your SRGX.

Thx for all your comments! Yeah my bad wrong date! As for the clips, they don't do justice as I just used some random ir from my personal collection - it's a mesa 212 - I'm gonna record more clips soon!

You can tell that the amp sounds great, the clips have way too much fizz though, especially the second one - is that really a V30 in the mesa 2x12? It almost sounded like a newer T75 or something

Did you use any post or is this completely raw? This makes me kind of sad because you can tell the amp is absolutely brutal sounding (from the gain structure and the transients) but there are some issues somewhere in the signal chain.

Completely raw it's a 212 mesa boogie IR! I'll definitely post some new clips soon! The amp sounds awesome in the room but I didn't have time to do a proper rec

Totally get it, I would be excited to post clips too - give me a heads up when you do more?

Given how much fizz and aggression is going on i might look for a redback IR or something a bit darker, maybe blend a couple of IRs with wall of sound or something - either way it's gotta be tamed a bit

Definitely can tell its got ample aggression and kerrang

Yeah it's a late 1983.Probably one of the last JMPs made.

That’s wild considering the 800 came in, in ‘81. I’ve never seen or heard of a JMP past 1980.
By ’83, the circuit is basically the same as early vertical-input JCM800 2203s.
Transition Model: While 1981 is generally considered the start of the JCM800 line, some 1983 models retained the older cosmetic style. These amps are known for a brighter, more treble-boosted sound compared to earlier 70s models, which is excellent for humbuckers.
And yes these are highly sought after by collectors ( stock ones)
