Tone Propaganda...

Another one: IR’s are just EQ. That one has fooled me big time over the span of many years OR I’m actually being fooled now into believing it’s literally just EQ

While I definitely hear a bit of a difference, I would not call that difference better. I've heard many examples of V30's from different years that sound just as good, if not better. I find those golden year speakers a little on the dark side as well. Some tones need a bit more in the 5 - 6k region for a little pollish, ya know?? Also, It's easier to remove frequencies than add frequencies that aren't there.
I agree about them being dark. I notice that most when I A/B with Marshall cabs.

I will also add that, while I did not like my two 2006 Mesa V30 cabs at all for rhythm compared to my 99, 00, 01 & 02 cabs, I did come to realize that the 06 cabs had a better lead tone. In hindsight I wish I would have kept it for recording leads. I have examples from our album if anyone cares.

Here's a quickie.

1) Some propaganda suggests that the resonance of a piece of wood has no impact on the amplified tone, arguing that only the pickups matter. Others disagree on whether the construction of a guitar has anything to do with good tone.

2) Tone is in the fingers is a subject of huge debate. Some say that if you plugged into Van Halen's rig, you would sound the same. Others argue that the entire signal chain matters, especially the amp when it comes to own.

3) No social media influencer ever makes mistakes, including string noise. They are the best guitarists on the planet, the only EQing that is done is a high pass filter. And they most certainly don't pay for views and likes.
