In the book of Revelation the whore of Babylon is Jerusalem/Israel. Whether he was referencing the period of time immediately following Christ, a later time, or both is the question. History repeats. "What has been will be again. There is nothing new under the sun"-Ecclesiastes

You should know that western christianity, especially protestantism generally tries to assign whore of Babylon status to the RCC or that Babylon is Rome or the USA but scripture makes it clear it is where the prophets were killed and where the Lord was crucified; Jerusalem, which is the capital of Israel since Donald Trump recognized it as such.

Correct. The hard core protestant version is it's the RCC cause every hard core prod despises them. The other version is it's the US because there is a port town called Babylon in NYC area. It's bad scripture reading (surprise) but we fit the description in a way (currently) cause original Babylon was where jews were exiled too. There are more jews in the US than in Israel or elsewhere. It also fits the description because the US is the "hammer of the whole earth" and "it's merchants were the great men of the earth", It fails on the basis of being the place where the prophets were killed and the Lord was crucified.

Perhaps it's referencing powerful jewish merchants or a future time where the USA and some of the other big players are no longer the dominant super power. Israel seems like the most likely country to unleash nukes, just saying.

So this is the Orthodox view? Got a vid or something to listen to? I keep meaning to tell you that I listened to a couple of this Orthodox guy's podcast lately. The one with the nephilim death squad perked my interest haha.

I can't say whether it's the official orthodox view without asking my priest but those are plain readings of scripture. I don't have any videos, it's just stuff I've gathered from self study and bible reading. Revelation is the only book not read during Liturgy because of it's cryptic, mystical nature. Many orthodox saints have made similar prophesies for the future so I assume some of what's in the book will repeat itself in a future time.
