I do not know ?
I have only heard good things about the Maxon !
I have never tried one though ?
I have a friend who is running 2 tube screamers now.
I believe Stevie Ray Vaughn did that .

lol I'm falling down the TS rabbit hole googling up stuff. I need to stop!

We all need therapy !
What started as therapy ended up making us need therapy , for the therapy !

The TS808 is slightly more compressed, with more "creamy" lower mids, slightly softer and warmer. The Maxon is bolder, more open, slightly less middy, but still in that Tube Screamer camp for sure. The difference is subtle once you drop lots of gain on top, though.

I like the Ibanez better, personally, because it colors the sound more. I get why some people prefer the Maxon, though.

If you want more open and less mid-hyped while still sitting firmly in the Tube Screamer camp, give the TC El Mocambo a try. It's dirt cheap, and I feel it does the job the Maxon does as well.

yeah I plan on trying a lot of them what is the difference from those two to the mini?

I have not tried the Mini, but I'm sure there won't be as much of a difference between all these "straight-up Tube Screamers" as there is with your Bad Monkey which is more of a "modded TS" vibe. If you really want something different, but along the lines of the mid-focused overdrive with soft clipping, give the MXR GT-OD a try. Maybe consider the Green Rhino or the Mesa Grid Slammer.

I've had my 808 forever..fall in and out of love with it on a regular basis. Last week I flipped a Strymon pedal on Reverb and had a few bucks left over. I picked up JOYO Classic OD for like 30 bucks, and I actually like it better than the real thing.

Don't spend more than you have to..there are TS clones out there that are just as good.

Go play the Bonsai and you will have the TS variants all in one box. Nice pedal and for the coin and what it gives you, you can't beat it.

Great short history of the screamer.....
I just watched that two days ago it's awesome they did a great job

hey do any of these tube screamers you guys have talked about have a little bit more bass or not cut the base as much?

The Duncan 805 has a bass knob so you can dial the bass back in. Honestly, if it weren't for the kinda quiet output volume of the 805, It'd be the perfect TS-type for me.

The MXR GT-OD/Classic OD/Wylde OD has definitey less bass rolloff than the Ibanez TS808.

There are other TS-types with bass dials. The MXR Badass OD, the Way Huge Green Rhino, the Wampler Clarksdale, etc.

Good video, I did always wonder how a Japanese company got a Spanish name in Ibanez.

Start off with an OD808. To me that is the pure example. The more features you get the farther away from the original. Then see what you want different. Simple enough. As much as I like me an OD, There is just something right with an OD808.

Having said that my OD of choice goes between the BB preamp, the MI Audio Blues Pro, a Timmy, and the fulltone fd-2

Yeah Maxon OD808. You can get a good baseline there and then you can see what you want different. There is magic in that circuit somehow. Buy used and smart and you won't lose a buck.
