Used gear prices

There was a guy on eBay last week wanting $350 for shipping on a Marshall head. I made a deal with him outside of eBay and am meeting him three hours away on Sat. He's still netting more than he would otherwise, not having to deal with shipping, and I'm getting price break and, I know you guys won't believe this, but I'm not going to volunteer the use tax when I file for 2020.

I love this topic, my personal opinion is the fed is going to fuck the boomers going into retirement, direct payments to the bottom, everything is paid for, prices to the moon. Just my opinion I surely don’t know but gear prices aren’t coming down, I’m sure of that.

Minimum wage was 1.45$ in 1970, the Ponzi scheme only goes one direction.

I dunno about that. Every time I walk into a GC, I wonder who's ever going to buy all that stuff. Some of the larger stores have 20-30 of each major guitar make and model on the wall. I can't believe we're making new guitar players as fast as the majors are building new guitars. There are always huge sales and blowouts. Just look at that fiasco a few years ago with the Marshall 2555x. They went from $1999 to $999 within a matter of weeks. Then you had the Les Pauls with Min-ETune, then the ones with the new Les Paul signature from 2-3 yrs. ago. Those didn't sell too well at MSRP. I think the Scottsdale GC had a new BE-100 on sale for $2499 and it sat there for a year. I don't know what newer products are retaining their value in the used market other than some pre-BAD Soldanos.

All first world countries are bankrupt= National Debt exceeding GDP. Since they will never be able to service this amount of debt let alone pay it off the only way out is to inflate the debt away. The Modern Monetary theorist believe in this....the only problem is that it will cause hyperinflation just like the Weimar Republic of Germany just prior to WWII.

Had they just bit the bullet and filed bankruptcy in 2008 that amount of debt could have been paid down. But nope.....they kept the ponzi scheme going pushing for a total reset.

USA current debt 27 Trillion/Unfunded Liabilities are over 240 Trillion..............

Fucking the boomers will fuck everyone else, I guess we are going to see if MMT works aren't we. Neofeudalism for all.

This is only true for lower dollar gear. Anything in the 2K -5K range is not selling. If you want to sell it you have to give it away.
Yep, this! It’s freaking silly.

But dude, then what happened?

John4021 is selling a USA Charvel DeMartini "Frenchie", like mine, in the classifieds for $1800!!!! I have seen that guitar for sale on Ebay for almost $5000. I got mine from someone here on the forum at $2000 and thought I was robbing the guy. Never thought I would see one lower than that.

I thought the insane prices were just a product of me being away from playing for ~5 years. Is it really 2020-specific? Amps I remember being like $1200 are now in the $2500 range. Craziness.

I put it to the test with two high dollar guitars in the last month. Incredible rare Les Paul at 4500 that did not sell. A GNG Morgoth I let go way cheap. Good luck selling anything in the higher dollar amount. If you are willing to take a hit like never before you will eventually move it.

I have to disagree with you Gary. I’ve sold over $30,000 in guitars, amps, and mics in the last 2 months... cheapest item being a $2200 amp. Several guitars in the $3-$5K range... and they all went pretty quick. Some within minutes of listing. I think it really depends on the particular piece, is it rare or one off, and looks. Most of the gear I sold was high end and rare to one-off.

Keep trying. Buyers are out there. And more free money on the way!!!!

That is a fine quilted LP btw.
