Phones should be banned at shows!

Amen, brother!

This seems like the wrong crowd to talk about wanting to bootleg a show...

Me, I thank people who bootleg a complete show that I want to see...

When I went to see them on 8/1 the two annoying guys in front of me kept holding their phones way up high and blocking my view. I was considering knocking one out of the guys hand. Sooo annoying and ruining my experience. Don't do this people! Couple next to us disappeared halfway through so I slid down a couple seats.
This...

Heard Dave was a trainwreck last night & Wolfie had an off night

It was 100% the opposite of your post.

The band was incredibly on point & having a fantastic time and it showed.

Wolfgang is extremely talented. It's like people aren't willing to accept that he's as solid as they come.

I was just basing it on the opinion of a friend who was there (who has been playing for 30 yrs).. plus all the video clips I saw.
Dave forgetting lyrics, etc (Being Dave - the front man, not the singer). And I was specifically talking about Wolfies screw-up during Dirty Movies... otherwise Band was on fire and having fun, and Dave was being Dave. That schtick was cool when he was Dave.. now it's old... IMO. Caught them in 1984, as well as 5150 and Monsters of Rock..
.
Not trying to stir the pot, as though I'm a fan of the original lineup, I'm not a WVH hater - just passing an opinion along.

can all you aholes stop filming shit during concerts its so fuckin annoying and rude to people around you! sorry man that my thoughts on the matter...

I understand you are a fan. But you admit you are bootlegging or stealing the show, even if only for yourself.

Do you illegally download, or steal, songs off the internet too? Just pointing out that stealing is stealing.

If I paid for a show and someone had their phone up, blocking my view....a quick swipe of my hand and they would spend the rest of the show looking for their phone. Few would turn around and confront me about it. Just saying.

Imo, they should have booted you outta the show. I am sure you are a nice guy, but know what's appropriate.

I didn't see Ed switch from the Red channel other than to go to the green channel a few times. He didn't use the blue at all. I had full view of his amp from my seats. Interesting. Regardless, I really enjoyed the show when I saw them last week. It was great!

Thx for sharing your video!

Or if you're in the audience annoyed by people recording with a phone (if the phone is in your line of sight, and the light from it is distracting), you can do what I do:

Yell WOOOOOOO!!!! every chance you get, and stick your arms/hands in the way of their phone "cheering on the band". :D Hey man, I'm just enjoying the show. You were recording with your phone? Sorry, too bad. :D Here's a few more WOOOOOOOOOOs to listen to later when you get home...

I'm always tempted to slap the shit right out of their hands. That's just me :D

In defense of the stealing/theft allegations, i have stolen a lot from eddie van halen over the years. A lot of us have.

I guess the phone thing is exactly the same as the "bootleg" trade back in the day...I remember tons of ads in things like metal edge selling tapes of concerts. Thing is a phone being held up (at least OP wasn't doing that) invades other peoples concert experience, tape recorder didn't.

I think the worst part of the whole videophone thing is them being posted on you tube and then all the morons commenting on how shit singers sound etc based on something that "production" wise is the equivalent listening to popcorn popping.....it pretty much seems that most of them have never actually stood in a venue and watched a band live at all

I see no issue with the OP in the front row with the phone at his chest but this is interesting.

Apple is cracking down on people who use their iPhones to record concerts and sporting events with a new auto-shutoff feature, the New York Post reports.
The tech company has spent the past 18 months developing a new feature that would automatically shut off the camera function of an iPhone that has been pointed towards a stage during an event, according to recent patent filings by Apple. Venues will be able to install infrared sensors that detect when an iPhone has been aimed at them, and subsequently send signals to the phone to turn off its camera. The sensors won’t affect other functions like phone call, e-mail, and text messages.
The new technology is an effort by Apple to placate concert planners and sports broadcasters who don’t want footage of their events showing up on YouTube. Industry insiders also think that this could be a way for Apple to reinforce a good relationship with record labels as it negotiates new deals to sell music and movies in the iTunes store, says the Post.
Apart from deterring amateur videographers, the infrared sensors could also be used to send information to a phone about things like museum exhibits or artwork.

Wow, he's using a lot of gain these days.
I know.....I got the stealth head and from using it for a while it seems like the red channel it overkill. You can get more then enough gain from the Blue.
Looking at his set up seems he likes the Red Channel.
I agree. I like his tone from the 2007 tour over this, when he was using the standard 100w. He would even use the blue channel often. Way too much saturation and gain now. I'm telling you, everyone is missing the magic that is the standard 100w blue channel. Especially now that the hype is the Stealth. Many would say not enough gain, but boosted it sounds better than any of the red channels (in either the standard or stealth) IMO.

It's wild that a good portion of the people on this guys ass for "stealing" copyrighted music by recording on his phone a band live no less... would be ass slapping a guy in a thread who bought a high end Les Paul clone. Good night the irony of this place.

Pretty foolish to think bootleg laws stand like they did 30 years ago in this day of technology when it comes to recording shows or sporting events.
