Reminds me of this:

Exactly!

Also how about doing that during...FIREWORKS DISPLAYS! Wow, really, holding up your phone/ipad/camera with the screens all lighting up the area making it more difficult for everyone to see the fireworks against the dark night sky, and for what? The recording is going to look like crap. There's no way it's going to show even half as much detail/vividness as what you can see. Can't just enjoy a fireworks show? For whom are you recording this anyway! Oh gee thanks for recording the fireworks mom, I wanted to be there at Walt Disney World but this shitty iPhone recording of it totally gets the point across!

Pretty foolish to think bootleg laws stand like they did 30 years ago in this day of technology when it comes to recording shows or sporting events.

apple don't seem to think so given one of the above posts ;)

That was my post. They are doing more from a marketing standpoint. Back in the day recording shows was a much more serious offense when there were no smartphones.

I didn't see Ed switch from the Red channel other than to go to the green channel a few times. He didn't use the blue at all. I had full view of his amp from my seats. Interesting. Regardless, I really enjoyed the show when I saw them last week. It was great!

Thx for sharing your video!

I noticed that as well. :dunno:
Not sure since the Blue channel on that amp is where THE MONEY IS!!!
That channel does it all....and does it all WELL! ;)

Where you guys looking at the heads on stage? I'd imagine that he'd have the ones actually being used in a rack back stage like most artists and the ones on stage for show.

unreasonable? wow it must be 2015.  From the bands POV, you aren't really supposed to film the whole show. It was probably at the request of band managment that security not allow people to film. i mean before it became the norm for smart phones to be everywhere, and in VH's hey day (80's and 90's), that was called bootleging and it involved sneaking in a camera/mic rig, staking out the right spot, etc
Or you'd have to get permission from the band, or band management(usually they'd make you provide your contact info and promise them a copy), and then it was still bootleging, but zero anxiety bootleging.
I did that stuff when i was a teenager in the late 90's.

I went to a King's X concert once and discovered that one of the guys that came with us was trying to film. He got caught, tossed and got his ass kicked big time. I had a hard time convincing the staff that I was not involved and didn't know what the guy was up to.

I too got tossed out for filming. Whats the big deal???

So I snuck into the ladies locker room with a camera and hid behind a locker? I wasnt hurting no one. :dunno:

Awesome video, Bro!!!
Wish you could have got more, (as you do too)

Thanks sir...this dude GETS IT!

I will say that I'd rather see someone like evhfan, who is a true Van Halen fan, filming a show because he wants to see his hero ripping up the fretboard than some of these morons I've seen at shows that are clueless.

When I saw AC/DC in 1988, my friend and I were in the front row against the bar and stood there the entire time. We left bruised, battered, deaf, and drenched in sweat. We didn't go to get a beer, a pretzel, or anything else. You go to a show now and you have to move out of the way 1000 times for some goon that needs to go get something. Drives me crazier than the folks filming. :)

I was under the impression his actual amp he was playing thru was under the stage??

When I saw them on the last tour a few years ago, they were playing thru his rig with the mains off and it sounded like it was under the stage. I doubt the ones on the stage actually have control and/or any sound going thru them... they probably just mic him under the stage and put him thru the monitors.. (I used to do sound for concerts and this was common, or running iso cabs in roadcases). I could be wrong however, IDK

It does seem like he has a lot of gain on this tour's rig setup. I wouldnt go by what the amp lights/settings are behind him on stage tho

You are correct. The stage heads are for show. The actual amp is in a rack case off stage. Here is a pic of the amp he is plugged into. Many have stated that he still uses this and not the stealth. Also, it appears that channel 2 is currently engaged since it's the only channel light you can't see. I believe he is using the stealth live now as his tone on the current tour seems to have more gain and saturation.

Three standards and a stealth? I vote the stealth is there for the pics.

I will say this...I spent an entire show in front of EVH in Hartford...the amount of gain he uses is RIDICULOUS...but it seems to work for him...I have a stealth and I don't have the gain above 2 or 3 on the blue channel...I never use the red...
