5150 is one of the best VH tunes of all time & ED has some killer playing & tone here & there during the Sammy era........DLR era VH is obviously the best overall(DUH), but there's a handful of Van Hagar stuff that kills!

I agree there IS some Van Hagar stuff I like, but it's really the odd tune here and there, not a whole album's worth...and let's not even talk about the Cherone era...

That's where they truly jumped the shark. I don't own any of those songs. I've heard a few on the web, but never had any desire to actually download any or buy a CD. The same can be said for many of my favorite 80s bands anymore though. I hung onto to many of them for as long as I could... but disappointment after disappointment, and waste of money after waste of money finally took its course. Many of those bands I don't even bother to listen to clips of new material on Amazon or check them out on YouTube anymore. So even for FREE I won't waste my time to check them out. I think that someone gave me that last VH CD (with DLR back at the helm) and I listened to it once and then purposefully lost it.

Yeah but Brad was brought into the band's management team in the 90s, when I was doing work with them. I think he's still webmaster/marketing with them, but I could be wrong.

The Van Halen Store isn't necessarily a Van Halen "official" site.

To my knowledge, it's a bunch of fans who created a store. They are the guys who started The Inside magazine years back. There might be some ties with the band, but the Van Halen doesn't own it or anything.

Just for clarification.

Give "Blood and Fire" another chance/listen - but I understand the feeling you have.

I always thought the 'Van Halen' store was legit representing???
Eddies lawyers shut down a guitar sale I had years back. So to see this legitimate promo out without being closed down I would think Eddie is aware.

I can't even...I just can't. I WILL say that I saw VH on tour with Gary and they were the best I've ever seen them ! I saw the re-boot with DLR tour too and Gary just owned Dave, but NOBODY has Dave's rap...

Hey... "C'mon Dave, give me a break!"... you were taking another cigarette (or whatever other chemical delivery system) out of his mouth!

Which Dave reboot tour did you see 07/08 ?

If you grew up with the "real" Van Halen then for most, Van Hagar takes a back seat.

Honestly being there in real time was an amazing experience, just a completely different era in that classic old person cliche, you had to experience it to fully understand. Really no different than seeing Kiss in their heyday, VH was something completely unique. It was a show and everyone shined with Roth the ringmaster, MC, host etc... Truly some of the most powerful concerts I've ever attended. But that era of kitsch is gone and Roth doesn't have the vocal abilities to offset his shtick. It was great for a reunion but it's kinda worn thin type of thing.

Van Hagar era was no slouch though; amazing in itself and a testament to EVH's talent that one of the worlds biggest bands could shift direction and remain one of the worlds biggest bands.

I'll always prefer the "real" VH but respect to Van Hagar. I wish they'd hang it up but their ball, and if they were to resume with Hagar, they can and have earned the right do whatever they want.

I grew up living with both. This is why I was surprised to see Hagar coming back in the scene.
Am a fan of both eras since they are both different worlds.

I love old DLR Van Halen, but there are cool Van Hagar tunes that I miss hearing. A little mellower, but still good tunes! Summer Nights, 5150, Right Now, etc. An entire era of VH tunes that are not being performed live anymore. Sad.

F.U.C.K. is one of my favorite VH albums. I also personally think it's Eddie's best tonally.
