How long have you been in Texas? Any stories of sharing the bill or a stage with the legends? Im watching a documentary of SRV and it made me wonder…

Don't know about VB but JD toured with Pantera 20 years ago. Pantera liked to take Texan bands on the road with them for support IIRC, so that makes sense.

I've lived here twice for a total of about 12 or 13 years. It would depend on who you'd consider a legend. I've shared a stage at a gig with a former major label blues-rock guy. Same thing with a little lesser but still well known guy in the blues world. I've opened for some well known area musicians a couple times. I have a guy in the band for some gigs that has been part of grammy winning bands. I have a guy in the band that toured with several pretty well known names in the blues world. All of it means jack shit to me if you aren't any good tonight.

I’m not sure how old you are or where paths may have crossed, but was just wondering if you had the opportunity to hang with any of the old guard. I question the “…if you aren’t any good tonight…” statement. Everyone has on off night, but the folks I’m thinking of were better than most when just phoning it in…

I've played, gigged, jammed, etc with a lot of guys who worked with the old guard as you put it, but most of those actual legends were aged out or dead by the time I was getting in deep.

TBH the coolest and only real "legend" experience I had in person was at a joint called Mahuffer's "the Wurst place on the beach" in Indian Shores FL around 2010. A guy named James Peterson, who used to own a blues club in Buffalo NY, used to hang out there. His son was Lucky Peterson. Every week they had a blues jam and Lucky would show up from time to time. I got to jam with Lucky one night. He was....intoxicated, but as you said, better than most just phoning it in. To you and pretty much everyone here he may be a nobody, but lemme tell you few men ever sang and played the blues with a guitar or B3 organ at his level and I mean compared to ANYONE, RIP....
