Thanks for your service, all of you. Regardless of the circumstances or outcomes, you went and served and rarely if ever got what you should have afterwards.
Some of you got the opposite. Some of you still live with shit normal people can’t understand.. Some of you die with that same shit. Shit that was totally out of your control and decisions you had nothing to do with..
Just know that real Americans appreciate it regardless of what anyone else says.
Fuck them

it was tough for the Nam vets. I really feel for those who had it rough...real rough. to go through that for sometimes 2 years and come home to be shunned. nothing anyone can do, celebrating them 20 years later when patriotism is fashionable again rings hollow.
sorry if I seem to repeat this often but it's often on my mind. and I'll repeat: a big salute to all vets...you did something that not everyone was willing to do, for the good of your country.

Let's not forget how many were drafted, and didn't volunteer.

Rode in to Subway today in my VFW riding shirt. The kid behind the counter thanked me for my service and we proceeded with an extensive discussion about military service, he was thinking about going into the army. It was just nice to have a good conversation with someone so much younger who had his head together.
