Hi all,

I posted a thread a week or two ago about the bright switches not working on Ch 1 and 2.

Just now, I was playing on extremely low volume and heard a large 'pop', then no sound. The sound came back for 2 minutes, then went again and doesn't come back - all I get now is a faint hum (which gets louder as I turn up the master volume) on all channels - no sound. Plugging into an 8 ohm Framus 2x12. Seriously distressed :( I have already arranged to send it to Peter (to fix the bright switches) after the Frankfurt expo, but would anyone care to speculate as to the reason for its failure?

I knew I should have bought a Herbert...

Thanks all,

C

Peter is currently on the Fair (until sunday).

Probably a spark caused from Powertube-Failure produced this. Your Hum Trimmer is burnt (easy replacement) and (depending on the age of the amp) your midi chip (even easier fix).

So you probably need new powertubes, a new hum trimmer and a new midi chip.

Don't worry, Peter will fix it.

Mr. Diezel needs to be more selective about who owns his amps.

Ah, a sardonic, smarmy comment! How nice. Off you trot back to your keyboard warrior haven, there's a good chap.

Dues: thank you. I'll arrange to return the amp to Peter when he returns. The excellence of Diezel's customer service knows no bounds! :)

Hey C, don't be down Bro. The VH4 is a very fine piece of gear. Big daddy will take care of you and you'll be back in the BOD once again.

Good luck!

Steve_k - I apologise...wasn't in the best mood. Still think your comment was a liiiittle mean, though!

Thanks KC - I'm sure that's correct.

Rez: I know Diezel products are of unparalleled quality; it's just that I think a Herbie might suit my sound more. Will try one out when the VH4 is fixed and make a decision then.

Update on issues: sound comes back intermittently, but is interrupted by loud pops and descends into static / hum after 2-3 minutes. Odd.

I think if anyone should be apologizing it should be Steve for making unnecessary snide comments when someone is having gear issues. A mod should be helpful, not insulting when a forum user has an issue and is even posting his issue in the right place.

I hope you get your problem sorted quickly. I know I would be pretty bummed if my Herbert had problems, and I would hope I could come here for advice without being insulted for seeking help.

No hard feelings either way.

It's odd: the sound is now fine, but interrupted every minute or so by a loud pop followed by hum. Tranny on the way out?

Are you sure your tubes are OK?

I would advise you to stop turning the amp on and let Peter work it out once he has it.

Thanks Peter - gratefully received. I'll send it this week - need to order some packaging first!

Diezel!
