Vonbonfire as a dad

Zebco 33?

:LOL:

My dad bought me and my bro matching 33 classics back when I was like 8 so we could fish off the dock. Granted, I caught a lot of fish on that rig using a beetle spin, mostly perch and blue gill. Still, I upgraded to one of his Daiwa BG-10's as soon as I was man enough to hold my finger on the line when casting.:LOL:
I still have my grandpas 33, and glass pole, bought from southern MO in the 50's. I'll send a pic in a bit..everything is pure metal, no plastic. I disassembeled the entire thing and rebuilt it. Will post pics in a few.

@japetus good memories.

My daughter is currently dating one of those "last name=first name" kids but other than him and her both having the most abysmal taste in music you can possibly imagine he seems like the most promising catch so far. At least he can handle a flat tire. I don't think he wears toe shoes but he doesn't have any Carlos™️ shoes, YET . He's a vegan though I think it's due to some allergies....I dunno, I think they all say that stuff. I guess we'll see....
Vegan? Sounds like he's WAY closer to toe shoes than Santanas!

I just cant wear birks. I had a pair, they are alright. I am a closed toe shoe man, to take on the day to day needs that my phalanges may encounter.
I think @BeZo needs to up his game by wearing toe shoes with wool socks over the top then a pair of birkenstocks. Somehow that'd be rad. :LOL:

My old man was a bonified fishing nut. Dozens of reels, rods...we used to go camping up on cass lake. Then he bought a house on a lake and gutted it. We asked him when we were going camping again and he'd reply "we ARE camping" LOL....

I just find fishing to be the most relaxing, introspective time. A lot of lessons to be learned about patience and attention to detail.

I only like it when the fish is biting. It's like hunting and gardening. I'm only in it for the food.

I spent a good amount of time in montauk as a kid trout fishing. Cleaning them right on the shore and grilling them.

When i was in early teens, someone had the bright idea to stock one of the lakes in north texas with rainbow trout, so i went up there like i would in missouri. Salmon eggs and 6 pound test.

The rest of the Texans came out with their catfish poles, hotdogs and 12 pound test. Everyone says trout are smart fish, but it was a butcherfest. The muddy texas lakes prevented the fish from seeing the lines and the bigger test let you pull them out of the water when you hooked them.
