Vonbonfire as a dad

I spent a good amount of time in montauk as a kid trout fishing. Cleaning them right on the shore and grilling them.

When i was in early teens, someone had the bright idea to stock one of the lakes in north texas with rainbow trout, so i went up there like i would in missouri. Salmon eggs and 6 pound test.

The rest of the Texans came out with their catfish poles, hotdogs and 12 pound test. Everyone says trout are smart fish, but it was a butcherfest. The muddy texas lakes prevented the fish from seeing the lines and the bigger test let you pull them out of the water when you hooked them.
Many such cases. I live about a mile from the Mississipi River, so I hold no contempt toward catfish/drum/gar fisherman. I just tend to enjoy crappie fishing, and the ocassional bass that chases.

Oh i did catch various things on it. Im tempted to buy another and go fishing with it lol
I could see just see your hulking frame take a lil tykes car and your kid fishing pole down to the lake....people might look at you funny but I bet they wouldn't say anything.

That lake I posted a pic of is about a mile from the mississippi by the way the water flow....you could canoe or boat to it from there.

Man I had a couple of Zebco’s growing up. Had no idea fishing had a much deeper pool of skill and knowledge for the guys into it.

I was a grown man working a job when I first learned that dudes fished without a cooler full of beer. Renaissance men.

If daughter came home with a young fella that claimed to play guitar, I think the only deal breaker would be “John Mayer is my favorite guitar player.” That would be tough on dear old dad (me).
