I really hate that whole 'full stops after every word', but....

OH. MY. GOD.

Yeah but can it do RATT? lol this is my fave question because I tend not to judge tone by the chugga luggas and want some 80's riffs.

That said, the rig sounds awesome! Too bad it involves lugging a 4 x 12 around to gigs though!!

Sounds awesome, and I agree about the cab being a huge factor. OTOH, almost anything sounds good at high gain along with bass and drums, plus your obvious recording and mixing skills don't hurt.

very cool! just read the part where you wire up headphone out to a speaker out as I was wondering how the hell you did it without lol

you really like nevermore hey ;)

can you just run the headphone out into a power amp?? And the speaker out things sounds cool as well.

You make everything sound great....as a matter of fact, you remind me of Ola.

The headphone out will power a 4x12?? Interesting!

I think you have to mod it for the headphone out to be powered.

I'm confused as to why you say it's the cab. Most people are used to hearing an ms 2 through the little speaker.

Put it through just about any 4x12 and its going to sound more ballsy and bigger just because the speakers are bigger and there are more of them and they in an enclosure that gets more low end.

It's the fact that its through a bigger cab instead of the little plastic amp that IMO is a larger factor over the fact that its a Mesa cab.

Mind not blown.

not sure if you got it tbh.

it wasn't really about the Mesa cab, it was about a good 4x12 vs. the built in speakers

That was exactly my point. I mean is it REALLY a stretch to think a 4x12 would sound better than a little 2 inch speaker in a crappy plastic box?

;)

hell yeah

wish had more space for the damn things =0

making me rethink my next investment now

Yep...just told a soundman that wanted me to run direct that I would be mic'ing my cab thank you much.

Awesome

One of the reasons I use a mostly neutral speaker (EVM12L), and a big advantage or IRs - trying all the possible combinations.

12L is kinda neutral....but it's also a great speaker in so many applications. I like using it in smaller 1 x12 combo because it doesn't worry too much about poweramp distortion and excursion and such. :)

It made my Traynor YCV50 Blue stand up and out.

Ok, ready to have your mind blown?
I'm probably one of the biggest amp whores on the planet, but even I keep telling people to not underestimate the influence of the cab....in fact I think the cab has a WAY bigger influence on the sound than the amp.
want proof?
well, here you go...
A 50% Marshall MS2 through the Mesa Rectifier cab, mic'd with a single sm57, no post EQ, other than HP/LP

I think this would be fun to have around the shop. Can you tell me how you modified the MS-2 to run the cab please? It can't just be the headphones out jack, can it? Email me if you need to: sales at scumbackspeakers.com

Thanks!

Jim

Jim, check this website out. It says just to jumper the one resistor on the "out" board. But it appears to me looking at the schematic that the resistor is in series with the speaker and the headphone out. I can't get any sound out of my headphone jack right now. So I'm trying to figure this out as well.
