I will get out my LP soon and see if I notice a boomy bass. The ET-65's don't seem to have as much bass as the CL80's I had in the cab before...

+1. I just tested an ET65 alongside the Warehouse CL80's and the Celestion Elite 80's that come in the TM2X12 last night. The 65's had less bass and smoother highs to me.

I have tried the Vet 30 once and was pretty impressed. I think WGS went for more of a broken in Vintage 30 sound new out of the box, but maybe went a bit too far. I still prefer the Vintage 30, but I would be fine with a Vet30.

I recently got a pair of WGS ET-65's and am really liking them. They are smooth and not harsh at all. Very nice with my Marshall 2553. I like the ET-65's better than the 1 Weber 1265 I had. Never tried the Celestion version unfortunately.

The basket of the the WGS speakers seems to be a little thinner gauge metal, giving me the impression that they are not built as well as Celestions.

DO you feel that the ET-65's are a bit boomy? I have 2 in my Bogner 2x12 OS cab and damm, i was making a clip last night and i had to lower my bass and depth on my Fortin BIGTIME. I was using a Les Paul as well though.

Yes..I put two ET-65s in the oversized Randall 2x12 I had...the Bass was very overwhelming from that cab....had to put the sucker up on casters and moved it away from the wall a bit.

Great warm sounding vintagey tone after doing that but I can see it being described as boomy.....need to try some in a smaller cab at some point.

I try and match speakers with the amp I use. I feel that the Vet 30's work really well in my setup with the Krank, as the Krank can be a little on the treble side. The smoothness of the Vet 30 really sounds fantastic with my Krank. Though I wouldn't use them on say a Rect. To my ears though the V30 sounds much better with Marshalls than the Vet because of the mid spike. But hey .... that's just my opinion.

I tried the ET-65 cab with my Marshall 2553 and Les Paul Standard, didn't notice any tubby bass. My LP custom is darker, but I haven't tried that guitar yet. I was very impressed with the ET-65's last night....
