Some amps are just picky. Splawns don't get along with V30's either.

Yet most of the recommendations I've read on these forums are Mesa Boogie cabinet with V30s for the VH4 :/

EDIT: I realise that not all cabs are equal!
I don't think you realize how HUGE the cab construction/etc is when comparing cabs, even with the same speaker they can be completely different in EVERY way.

I didn't care for V30s at all with most amps...until I tried a Mesa, Bogner, Rivera. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The Cab construction made ALL the difference.
I know they are spendy but don't judge that amp until you try a REAL Diezel cab with V30s. You HAVE to match your amp with the right cab to get the real deal tone that the builder wants you to experience.

I do understand your perspective, but I don't necessarily think that the cab that is from the same brand is the answer. If that were the case wouldn't Diezel make more cabs for the specific amp. Herbert, vh4, and fokker would each fit in a different cab? Right.

But in general I do agree to a point. I find that even if it is a matching cab, there may be a better option. But I agree with your consensus in general.

An example that is overdone to hell and back ia the 5150 and recto cab. It works way better than a Peavey cab.

I may be beating the horse dead, but I think you get what I am trying to say.
You'd get the best results IMO with the matching cab; that said, any of the 'accepted' great V30 cabs I mentioned would give a great impression too. I can't stress enough how I was so-so on V30s until I tried that comparison with the Mesa/Bogner/Rivera. Those speakers sound AMAZING through any of those cabs, and I've played a V30 Diezel cab with a Mesa MK IV that also killed.
I've owned some 'recommended' V30 cabs that sound good but fall way short of the ones I mentioned. There's a 'depth' to those quality cabs that the cheapos don't have.
I'm tellin ya, if you are so/so or don't like V30s, try them sometime through a known killer cab and then judge.
You may change your mind.

I have two mesa OS recto cabs. I like them, but I like other pairings sometimes. I have had three orange cabs, and they are one of my favorites, but they are far from my recto. I have had a 1960a, it went really 1uick. Didn't like it.

I would love to get another Orange 4x12, as they go used for a reasonably cheap price. I would jump on a rivera if it was local.

What is the consensus on avatar? Mine sounds great and seems solid. Mojotone makes a decent cab i think but I didn't buy it for the cab, i did for the Alnico webers. I like it with my bandmaster.

another highly underrated cab are the ibanez thermions that come with v30s, they have a split baffle and are basically two 2x12s, mines super tight sounding.

I had an Avatar cab. They are decent but another cab that I tried British V30s in and it was 'Meh'. That and the Tonemaster are the 2 cabs I had with British V30s. Sounded ok, but nothing special. I personally found a HUGE difference with those other V30 cabs. Like they were loaded with different speakers altogether.

I am pretty much in the main cabs v30, k85, and t75 all British. Atm several cabs are k85 on top v30 on bottom. Or my two rectos are stock, and I have two cabs that are t75. The others are webers of various models or vintage in the fenders.

Its necessarily ideal where I am with cabs, but what I have does the job. I would rather drop a grand on a used head than a new/new to me can.

But like I said I see an orange 4x12 or rivera 4x12, I am on it.

I had a 4x12 many years back. Loaded with V30’s
Might of been a Marshall. I can’t remember. I just remembered it being really shrill Ice picky.
I’ve been playing thru 2 Randall Lynch box cabs loaded with super eminence V speakers. Closed back.
Small port hole on bottom. And every amp I owned just sounds HUGE thru these cabs.
Each their own. But the little time I spent with V30’s I didn’t care for it.

That's a nice cab, sounds like GBs on steroids to me. The one I had was worn out though, and I had to return it as it folded a bit under high volume. But it did sound killer.
