They both can be effective. The little pills that look like a small square meat treat from the vet seems to work best. There are a few brands that fall in this category of once a month flea/tick meat pill. Actually, i give my dog a third of one and it works for a few months. I have learned that after cutting a third of the pill off, I need to freeze the rest in an airtight container because of the food flavoring can go bad and the pill kind of melts if left at room temp.

The liquid type for squeeze on can work except for the cheaper ones. Some dogs seem to feel yucky for a day or so after applying but some don't. The kind you get 3 in a pack for less than $10 don't seem to be good at all, but the Frontline and Frontline equivalent do pretty good

Nail polish👍
I had a fat Motha’ on my scalp once from climbing potato vine mountains in the woods by my house.
I remember finding out when I went surfing on the East coast .
I bailed, got served real good and hit my head on some coral-like rocks.
When I got back to shore and we checked status of injury, I felt something slightly move on my scalp..I started freakin’ out, my woman checked and walla!!
So we coated the bastard with nail polish which suffocates the Tick making the Tick remove it’s meat hooks without breaking off/which is VERY important.
-I watched 2 standard Florida lizards tear a Tick to shards once which was dope AF.
Word.
