What Settings Do You Use?

I enjoy coil splits, recently added treble bleed to some of my guitars (mostly neck pickups that got too dark) - My PRS tremonti I added treble bleed to both pickups, and it has really transformed it into a useful tone machine for many genres.

I enjoy coil splits with specific pickups - but a lot just have a thin/weak sound to me that is nothing at all like a single coil. I severely dislike treble bleeds, instead, I wire guitars with 50s wiring to open them up and low level or no caps. This really gives guitars an 'in your face' kind of sound, with retained top end, without the treble bleed volume need, as the knobs react differently than normal with 50s wiring, and again, overall retain more top end extension due to the lower valued/no caps.

PRS pickups generally split really well in my experience, probably due to the uneven winding in a number of the models. What other cap types and values do you have in the circuit requiring the need for dual treble bleeds, maybe .047 eventhough the guitar is equipped with buckers?? I see that a lot for some reason, and the 3 guitars like that I have had bleeds installed, which I removed when I messed with the other wiring.

Wait. People actually use neck pickups?

Always working the volume knob, all pup positions. Work the tone on my Tele quite a bit (and my 335 when I had it).
I like everything from clean to mean, and love the softer breakup tones with the volume rolled back. Don't care for the treble circuits on the volume, but love a simple cap on the neck pup on humbucker guitars.

I use the bridge pup for most of my playing, including solos. Never got into switching for above/below 12th fret. But I do like to flip to out of phase positions or to the neck for clean tones.

just volume rolloff for different levels of gain. This became even more prevalent once I got more into fuzzes. Many fuzzes, when using a Gibson become a more useable rock tone if you just knock the Git volume back a little. My LP Special I use the tone knobs a fair bit. On some amps its top end will take your eardrums out but a few notches back on the tone pot and it’s good to go.

What settings do you use on your guitar? I'm sure most of you are all bridge pickup all the time, but some of you probably coil tap. Do you use any phase switching or coil tapping on your guitars? Is it at the switch or do you have separate switches or push pull pots?

Aside from the bridge or neck pickup, I like to use the outer coils on clean parts. It is chimey and pretty, even when I dial my clean in a little dark and dirty.
My setting on the guitar are generally always about the same whether using humbuckers or single coils. Neck vol ~6, bridge vol ~8, with both tone controls full up most of the time. This gives me room to roll up either when I want a bit more, and I tend to ride my volumes a good bit when playing.

I don't tend to use my tone controls unless I want some creamy smooth sounding jazz or fuzzy neck tones, or if I'm using an octave pedal.

I crank the amp and then roll back my volumes, usually working between 5-8. I usually roll back bridge tone to 6-8.

After 45+ yrs into this shit i recently discovered the LP middle position.

Get some serious fat tones working and blending the controls
That's where the BB King tones are if you roll back volumes and bridge tone....
