Just like the title says.

I fired it up and the volume was almost non existant. I could crank it on 10 and it was TV volume. So I changed all of the preamp tubes. Sure enough it fixed it... and revealed a static noise in it that comes and goes as it pleases on every channel. I have literally tried everything to make it go away. I have tried 2 sets of known good power tubes, 3 sets of known good preamp tubes and the noise wont go away. I tried checking every jack, cables (even thought the noise is there with or without a cord plugged in). Different speaker cables, different cabinets etc. I tried wiggling all of the preamp tubes to determine if it is a dirty socket, but nope. The static occurs on either tweed power or full power. Now I have to go through the hassle of sending it back. The funny thing is that after 20+ years of playing, this is my FIRST new amp I have ever purchased  . I guess I should stick to used.

I would like to mention that through the static, this amp is BRIGHT. Jesus Christ, it is so bright that I while using the "classic" V eq, I had to adjust the 6600 to flat.

Hey Bro,
Im SO sorry to hear... That fkn BLOWS.
Question, what cabs you playin thru?? IMHO That amp DEMANDS the mc90's...
anyway, just thinkin, no matter what youve used, if the tones' already jacked up with all that static, who knows how fkd the Preamp 'tone' itself actually is, an how accurate could that tone really be right now, ya know?? in other words, until the amp works correctly, who the FK knows WHAT it really sounds like....

I dont see why not...but I ordered it from a dealer Colorado. So I am going to ask them to get me another one. I dont want this one "looked at or fixed". I think there is something really wrong with it. I tried it again today and it sounded like crap and had no balls or volume.  :aww:

i thought you couldn't purchase new mesa amps unless you actually bought them in person?

ah man, sorry to hear this Dave. I know that you aren't hurting for amps, so I would definitely tell them that you want a brand new amp and that you don't want this one fixed. Im sure that Mesa will hook you up and Im definitely sure you are in good hands with the guys you bought the amp from.

Well I was in contact with Mesa. Lets just say that the experience is/was somewhat unpleasant. More to follow...

On a side note, I'm starting to think I'm going crazy running 6600 so low. If I'm dialled in for leads, it's nearly always below the middle line. Anybody else do this? I know Code's tried it but he's got a vagina.

No, SFW used to do the same thing with his IV and it really depends on what speakers you are using. So its safe to say that you're not crazy for running the slider at that position. Weather or not you are crazy in real life is another story :hys: :D

Ah yes, I forgot about that. I'm using V30s actually. What cabs do you use with your IV Ralph, when you're not using the Axetrak?

I use h30's or the Boogie MC90's. The h30s are loaded in a Marshall 4x12 and the MC90's are loaded in an earcandy buzzbomb 2x12 cab. I also like greenbacks with the boogie. Ah hell, ut soudns great through almost anything lol :D

Well I spoke to Mesa tonight and they basically said I need to take it to one of their service centers or go back to the dealer. Like I have the time to drive to a service center  I am going to try the dealer....see if they can get another one sent to me and I will send them back this one. Either way, I am surprised at Mesa. The guy I spoke to had a shitty bed side manner. :gethim:

Dave!
it seems as if it is hit or miss with those guys. Sometimes you get a real cool guy and other times you get some stand-offish person who is quick to get you off of the phone.
I think calling the dealer would be a better option and I would also make sure that he agrees to get you another amp. You should get what you payed for which is a new amp in perfect working order. having to send out your amp to get repaired before you have even gotten a chance to play it is pure bullshit.
That said, if you lived closer to me, I have a great amptech who could fix it no problem but I think that's defeating the purpose!! get a new one bro!!

if you call up mesa try to speak to Rich if possible...i don't know any of the other guys there to comment really, but everytime i've called them he's the guy i spoke with, and was always extremely helpful

Sorry to hear about this Dave.

I am a Mesa fanboi but screw the repair crap, tell them new amp or money back. Mesa needs to do the right thing or tell them to stick it.

My thoughts exactly Scott... Its utter shit having to send an amp in for repairs when it should have arrived in full working order.

That sucks hard Dave, Im really sorry to hear that. Thankfully , mine sounds incredible and I would have been up a creek if it had happened to me. Im sure Rob will do whatever he can to help you... Let me know if there is anything that I can do to help...
